My Dell optiplex 780 has just packed up. Looking to get a refurb as a replacement to save some money. I use it mainly for playing age of empires, internet and the odd bit of excel and downloading a film or two. I would like a usb c socket as this would speed things up when transferring said film or two to usb stick.
current (broken) machine would boot from ssd so I don't want to go back to hdd. I'm finding it hard to search using my phone- can anyone recommend where to look or if they no of a suitable machine.....
thanks Tim.

What is "packed up"?
If it simply won't respond to switch-on, and there's no power light showing anywhere, it's probably the power supply, and £20 on eBay will likely get you a replacement. If you can use a screwdriver, you can replace a PC power supply.
If you are going for a refurbed machine, I'd suggest Stone Refurb, I got an HP from them recently0 -

Have you hoovered all the dust out of the fans recently?
Is there a graphics card with a fan, and is this the one going into overdrive?0 -

How about a newer dell optiplex - you could move the SSD from your existing to new computer and do a clean install of windows? If necessary you could copy any files etc you need off the SSD to the 500GB mechanical drive in the new computer. This model would support Windows 10 or 110

The local repair man got it going but the graphics card and some of the RAM was done for so I've ordered a new recon machine-
