I am buying a new laptop. Can anyone recommend Good Anti Virus and Spyware to install on it. I will have Windows 10 or 11 as the operating system.

Windows has it already built in.  You need nothing else.

The one thats somes with windows.

Probably best to do a clean install to remove the nonsense packaged with it, though if you find that too scary at least uninstall all of them of do a windows reset of something.

As people say, use the Microsoft Defender for real time protection.

It is worth downloading Malwarebytes to be run periodically but don't pay for any subscriptions, just manually run it once a month.

If you read the 1st post again in the Best Place to buy High Spec Refurbished PC Equipment thread, you will see I stated that the High Spec PC was for the company I work for. The Laptop is for me. The moneysupermarket forum is a positive place to exchange information but I have found some people with thousands of posts to their name do reply with some rather silly remarks. Quality over Quantity every time.

Sorry I read the post, but you have not made any attempt to flesh out your very vacuous thread, don’t be surprised if posters give you advice that it is not what you want, but this detracts from this thread.
Windows 10/11 have reasonably good built in anti virus, Malwarebytes free scanner is useful on an ad hoc basis.

If you're asking for quality replies, you need to supply quality information in your original post.
If you don't do that, there's no point being stroppy about the answers!

My original post in this thread asks what is Good Anti Virus and Spyware to install on a new laptop. Nothing Ambiguous there. The problem arose from debitcardmayhem not reading another thread correctly and then trying to be a wise guy.

more than likely your new laptop will have an anti virus prog preinstalled to suck you in to paying down the line.

First thing to do uninstall and as above just use Windows own
