Shell Energy standing charges

I have been with Shell for the past 12 months on a fixed contract and they have just notified my increase in costs with new tariffs from 1 April 2022. Following advice on the MSE website I will stay with the company but cannot understand why my standing charge is increasing by 1p per day for Gas but 22.5p per day for Electricity. Does anyone understand this side of the charging process please which, as far as I can see, is an admin cost and unrelated to the increased general cost of energy itself. It smacks of profiteering to me so any explanation of the large difference between the increase for the two types of energy would be welcome. Previously the two standing charge rates, while not the same, were at least on a par. Thankyou.

Probably for the same reason as answered in the several new posts daily asking exactly that same question.

    Operational costs, not just admin.

30 companies have gone bust in last six months, that's part of the operational costs.
