We are currently seeing a lot of posts being created asking why standing charges are increasing, why standing charges are increasing "so much", and "is this fix any good". In a lot of cases these questions will be answered quickest by simply searching the forum board for one of the many other threads asking exactly the same question. If you still have further questions on the standing charge, please post on one of the existing threads on the subject. If your specific fix question has not been answered then you may be best to create your own thread to ask your question.
If posting a question relating to the current increases in costs and how they relate directly to your own situation, please remember that you need to give us an idea of your annual energy consumption, and the unit rates/standing charge for any tariff or fix you're discussing - how much you pay monthly on your Direct Debit tells us almost nothing!

Bumping this back to the top and also mentioning that I have PM'd a board guide to ask for it to be stickied. Maybe @MSE_ForumTeam4 or @MSE_Laura_F might also be able to help with this?🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

This definitely needs to be a sticky!!!
Even helpful people will eventually get sick of saying the same thing over and over.
Anyone else feel like Brenda from Bristol....
"You're joking....not another one!!"How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1 -
Yes, I'm starting to get RSI.It 's a shame it takes an energy crisis to get people to take an interest in their supply.1

Just ignore the repetitive threads. Simples.1

Hi @EssexHebridean,
Thanks for letting us know about this.
We've actually just made a new sticky on this board with key information on the energy price cap changes which we hope will help lots of users: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6337769/energy-price-cap-your-questions-answered#latest
It's based on a guide the MSE utilities team have put together, as well as some other useful guides we have on site.
As always, if you spot any posts that are in breach of the Forum Rules, please do let us know by either reporting them or emailing us at forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.
All the best,
MSE Laura
