standard charge

The standard charge on gas/electricity is to cover connecting you home to the energy network, maintaining pipes etc and conducting meter readings. Can i ask why the standard charge has increased dramatically then? surely it should just be the daily rate that should be the higher increase and standard charge should stay the same? my standard charge for electricity has went from 20.391p to 27.838p and my gas 24.86p to 49.64p.

PS it's the electricity standing charge that has risen to 50p/day, not the gas one.

The standing charge of electric is increasing my a large amount because of all the suppliers that went bust since the last price cap the increase per day foir that is around 18.6p per day OFGEM has to get the money backj from somewhere so why not the people who use the electric and gas.
