Was more curious what measures other people are taking to strike the balance of ensuring you don’t overpay vs sufficiently heating your homes etc
Our heating is at 14c between 8pm and 8am, and 18c between 8am and 8pm as the house is occupied by at least one person all day long. People did moan at first, but now people decide to put a jumper on instead if they are cold rather than walking around in a t shirt and shorts.

Yep, the wife will often claim she’s cold (whilst sat in a pair of shorts 🤣)
  • My heating timer is set to something similar and the same temperatures.  Even though I feel the cold, I have noticed that between 10pm and 7am, the temperature only drops about 3C, to 18C.  My boiler has not kicked in at 16C this year.  Other years, I cannot say, as I have had a new boiler and thermostat installed this year.  Previous boiler was ready for the boiler maker in the sky and thermostat was not programmable.  When I use to turn the heating on, the stat would light up at 10C.

I would not say my flat is well insulated and concrete walls do not hold much heat.
