I also won my case before the Ombudsman and was awarded £600 for lost savings due to missold tariff and £50 for handling of the complaint.  BG has accepted the outcome and the £650 credit is already in my account.
That is a great result, and good that they have not appealed it, but it does highlight some wild inconsistencies both in the Ombudsman decisions and in the BG response to them...

It certainly does !! £650 is the largest amount I have seen awarded.
One wonders whether there are grounds for some sort of class action against BG ?

...today I have been awarded the sum of £438 stay strong and persistence is key guys 👍☺️
Who made that award, the Ombudsman or a Court?

If not I will get a high court writ.
You ability to do that depends on the answer to the first question...

Hi thanks for the response, it was an ombudsman decision.  My advice to anyone who has been in the same situation get all the evidence together and you will succeed I'm sure. 👍

    Missold not missile!

I thought that was some new term for skyrocketing prices!
  • From my case the key thing seems to be to show that you were on a fixed tariff previously and were searching around for fixed options at the time BG was appointed as SOLR and that the prominent "price guaranteed until ..." promise influenced your decision to stay.

That's exactly what I proved. From various screen shots and phone calls to British gas. I was promised in a phone conversation Oct 22 price cap but ring back in a few weeks when account was set up fully. I did just that and was informed it was not longer available. I had online chats regards the price guarantee again was informed my price would not change until after that date. I kept proof and supplied.
