Franke Sinks

Hi

I am considering either of these sinks and would like to know everyone's views as there is different reviews on line about them or if you can suggest a different sink that would be great.

I wouldn't want a composite sink as they seem to stain easily. Stainless steel every time for me.

Have also suffered from staining of a light grey sink but imagine dark colours wouldn't be as bad

We're on our second black sink (different houses). Not had a problem.

Neither have been Franke, but it is a fairly decent brand.

We had to constantly clean our Franke dark sink to get rid of limescale/hard water stains, even with a water softener. While it did mostly clean off, it didn't look great after a couple of years. We've now gone back to stainless steel.

The dark colours show limescale stains much more than lighter colours - we replaced a light cream sink with the dark grey Franke sink, and the stains were a lot more noticeable. Don't do it if you have hard water.
  • Our anthracite Fragenite sink - must be over 15 years old - still looks ok.
The top surface, draining board etc, is still in very good order, but the bottom of the main bowl has numerous small chips - a general roughness if you run your fingertips across it.
No surprise as it's never been treated with care - everything is chucked in and clunked about. Seems pretty indestructible, and the colour is intact.
  • The only issue with composites are they chip easily if you accidentally drop something in

    Thanks everyone
I used to have a Franke sink in my old house along with Duropal worktops and no issues.
But after reading the Franke reviews I thought I would ask on here.

@Doozergirlwhat brand is your sink please?
Can anyone recommend a decent sink?
    Thanks

  • I've had at least five different types of sink and after 40 years I'm changing back to stainless steel. It retains it's good looks for much, much longer than all others I've had. Can't speak for Corian though as I've no experience of it.

    It's a Reginox Elleci.

The one before was an Astracast something.

We had Corian worktops (speckled duck egg colour) with integrated white sinks in our kitchen & utility in previous house. All surfaces, including white, virtually immaculate after 20 years. I'd have Coran again in a heartbeat.

In this house, Franke brushed/satin SS sink in kitchen still looks good (though max 6 years old) but new Howdens Lamona brushed/satin SS in utility looks rubbish after less than a year. Utility was fitted out to a budget but I wish I'd chosen a better quality sink!
