My laptop will not operate wirelessly

This problem has only just started I normally use the laptop upstairs wirelessly but now for some reason it only works when wired up not sure what happened.My OS is Windows 10.Thank's

  • Isolate the problem. Do you have other devices that still connect to your router wirelessly? If yes then run the networking troubleshooter on your laptop.

    Do you mean that your internet conection only works by ethernet, not wi-fi? All the other functions work OK?
    The obvious question is, have you switched the wi-fi off by accident, and are you connecting to your own network?
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    Maybe along the top line of the keyboard .... does one of the F.. keys have a Wi-Fi symbol?

    Go to Settings, Network and Internet, under heading "Advanced Network Options", click on Change Adaptor Options. 

    Your Wired and Wireless connections should both be shown here; right-click Wireless, click on Status, or pick "show status of this connection" from menu bar. 

    Does its "Media State" show 'Enabled'? If not, if it shows Disabled, then Enable it.

    Come back if it's Enabled, and you still can't get connected.

    Yes F1 HAS THE WI-FI SIGN

    Yes my ipad works ok and I can get my emails ok on my mobile

    I did the following Settings'Network & Internet'Change Adapter options and it says Wi-Fi not connected
