Anwyl Homes

Do not buy a house from Anwyl Homes. We have a 6 month old house that has a roof that has not been fitted correctly in line with NHBC standards. There are another 10 houses with the same issue. Anwyl know the roofs are not right and are letting the roofers continue to fit defective roofs. We have a mountain of evidence but they do not listen. Anwyl know the tiles are not all nailed down but are still claiming this is storm damage. Only after a near miss with a tile smashing on the doorstep seconds after a mum and two children went into the house (not during a storm) did they reluctantly agree to inspect our roofs. This "Inspection" is a roofer working for the original roofers checking a handful of tiles on each face and looking to see if it is nailed. Weeks later the reports have still not arrived. This weekend we had storms and our small row of 10 houses have lost 30 tiles at least. This is NOT storm damage - there is a huge Redrow development 100 yards from us that has had no storm damage at all. Whole tiles are landing on our drives, doorsteps and paths that have clearly not been nailed. Anwyl head office don't care, the site team have known about this for MONTHS and only acted when we have demanded it, following a near miss event that could be been fatal.

Firstly, bear in mind that the developer will probably find this thread, once it gets indexed by Google - and if your user name is similar to your real name, they'll know who you are. (That might be good, or it might be bad.)
In your position, I'd maybe get a building surveyor to inspect the roofs and write a report on the workmanship etc. (Maybe a number of homeowners would agree to split the cost of the surveyor.)
Then you'll have some concrete evidence to present to the developer and NHBC.
If you think this might end up in court, you might want to chose a building surveyor who is also an accredited 'RICS Expert Witness'. It's likely to cost more, but they'll be used to preparing evidence for legal cases etc.
