You don't need a USB port for Firestick or ROKU box. Just a HDMI connection. Does your current tv have one?
The USB port is convenient in that it will power the device from the TV, but you can use a usb plug in a normal outlet instead.

Also I'd definitely recommend a ROKU over a Firestick any day
  • Thanks KxMx for this information. Yes I do have a HDMI connection.
  • If you’re on the apple eco system I would recommend Apple TV 4K. They are expensive but the interaction between all your family’s devices is so good it’s worth the one off outlay I would say.
If your android user then disregard this post!

    Hi. Thanks
I'm a single person household. So I'm looking for the cheapest solutions for the present
Until ive upgraded everything. I won't be looking into anything expensive in the future. I'm not really a TV watcher anyway.
    But thanks for your help.
    At present basic old plasma..
    All with sky ....
    Old sky+ box
    BB
    Phone line
Which will all end on 25th March 22.

I'm just looking for the best, cheapest solutions.

The "trouble" with many of these TV boxes/sticks is that their prices vary so much.   If you're going to be paying c. £40, then a Roku device is probably better than a Firestick.

However, I got my 4K Firestick with offers/coupons for £15, which is much better VFM for a very fast and capable device.
