I haven't used them or a long time but these have been going for longer than I can remember - Cheap laptops, PCs, Computers, Monitors, Printers, Digital Cameras and accessories | Morgan Computers
I had no idea Morgan were still around!
Bought my first laptop there about 50 years ago, store on New Oxford Street(?). Laptop long gone but I've still got the bag.
In 1972 you did not buy a laptop.  The closest thing available then would have been a Datapoint 2200 and you would not want one of them on your lap.

F.F.S., I wasn't being literal about the 50 years ago. It's a figure of speech meaning "a long time ago". I've gone back and amended my post to say "100 years ago". Is someone going to point out that my buying a laptop in 1922 was unlikely?

Haha. I've still got my Amstrad PPC 512 'laptop' from the 80s which is the size of a small suitcase. And I've got a 640 as well with the extra 128k memory and built in modem.

@sarahj1990 as you're obviously still reading the forum (given you've started another thread about laptops), how about actually answering some of the questions asked in this thread? Such as:
How many do they need what sort of spec.

If happy with 3-4year old then batches coming off lease are often available.

Budget per machine?  (might find new)

to get an idea of pricing for some dell (ebay often cheaper)
dell outlet for nearly new/returns etc.
    dell refurbished for older

I have been looking at the HP 400/600/800 ranges with at least i5-8500 around £200-£250

laptopsdirect seem to get decent reviews from the people on HUKD.

What's wrong with the ones in use? there may be upgrade paths
if basic use and not too old, a memory and SSD upgrade may bring them back to life.
Can anyone recommend a company that specializes in selling refurbished High Spec PC/Workstations that comes with warranty. The company I work for needs to update all there PC equipment.
It really depends what you mean by high spec, most refurbished kit is 2-4 years old, something that was high spec three years ago probably doesn't really meet that description today.

Also the super deduction for Corporation Tax only applies to new purchases, but not for second hand, so it makes even more sense for a business to buy new.
