Hello, please can you put me down for £70 again for March elsiepac. Thank you for the meal plan Challenge. I'm not sure how it will work out as I'm on standby for granny duties with a new GC expected this month and I'm going to help out.
I'll be staying away in a b & b, so some eating out involved and I'll treat the parents to a takeaway or two. Some cost will come out of the holiday/treats fund. I'm so looking forward to being there that I'll just go with the flow.Grocery challenge 2025: £650/1500 annual budget7 -
Hello @elsiepac please can you put me down for £300 again this month? Last month was a bit crazy and ended with us going away for a week so I didn't post as much as I wanted to but I am determined to post as I spend this month!
This is all food, toiletries, takeaways (which I am aiming to cut out this month!) For 2 Adults and a child plus dog food. Our Month will run from 25th Feb - 25th March.
I love the idea of posting our meal plans this month!Budget £300

Hello. Can I join please? £350 this month - 2 adults one child and some hangers on! A couple of dietary requirements but I am hoping to come in between 300 and 350. I do a meal plan but need to be much more focused.7

Like to join if I may. On line order £44.60 coming on the 28th Feb and I would like to see how long I can make this last. I live on my own and have things already in stock, I am aiming to come in under £80.006

Could I join please and go for £450 for the month please?
I kept all receipts in February and categorised spends into various headers so I have sub budgets for each of these. This is for 2 adults, 2 children and a dog who's raw fed. To include all food, takeaways, cleaning, dog food and alcohol.
In terms of meal plans we're having homemade pizzas for dinner tonight, tomorrow we'll be having sausage and mash and I think I've got a lamb shoulder in the freezer which I bought a while ago so might take that out to defrost on Sunday. Though that will depend on what I collect from Tesco and KFC on my olio collections on Saturday night, I tend to work round whatever I get left with from those. Also covering a slot at Tesco on Sunday night too then have another KFC collection Monday night so haven't really meal planned that far ahead.6 -
This weeks spends are
Supermarket shop (veg, household & freezer stuff) = £18.83
Fish shop = £4.80
Butcher shop = £9.17
total £32.80 leaving £47.20 for the rest of the month
I'll admit to being a menu planner when budgets are tight but I do try to accommodate elements of spontaneity for occasions when "I don't fancy that" or "can't be bothered cooking" so I always try to have at least one of my favourite convenience/ready meals in the freezer. But at the moment I'm on a mission to try and save something so do have a plan for the next few days.
Lunches tend to be hm soup, sandwiches or leftovers from the previous night and for my weekly plan its a combination of freezer supplies or I focus on the main ingredient for the meal then think about the recipe and accompaniments later. So the plan for the next few days =
Fri - Fish in breadcrumbs
Sat - Chilli, rice & salad
Sun - Mushroom risotto
Mon - Turkey burger
Tues - Veggie pasta
Wed - Stewed liver
Thurs - Bacon & leek quiche
Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
July - Grocery spends = £103.538 -
First spend of the month today - £6.04 in the local SM. Found some YS leeks so here is my meal plan for the next few days:
Fri - Twice cooked Jacket Potatoes with Leeks, Cheese and Bacon
Sat - Toad in the Hole with Leeks and Veg
Sun - Pesto Pasta, Salad and Haloumi
Mon - Chilli (already made and in the Freezer)
I have a veg and meat box ordered for next week but not sure which day they will be delivering yet. Looking forward to seeing the contents and meal planning when it arrives as I have not ordered from this company before!£6.04 / £300 spent
