Sim card for Costa Rica

Hi, I'll be travelling to Costa Rica for 30days, I wonder if any one has advice for a pre pay sim card? Ideally would like to purchase before travelling. Main requirement is for data.
Thanks.

Surely it's going to be easier (and a lot cheaper) to purchase from a local (not airport) shop when you're there?

Unless you need a phone number for entry, which I don't believe under the current rules you do.

There are four cellular networkS, all offer PAYG SIM for visitors, you need to show your passport at their shop/kiosk. You can Google for details.

You don't want a visitor SIM card, but will want a PAYG.

Anything for visitors/purchased at the airport will be a lot more expensive than a standard data package for locals in my experience (although not with Costa Rica).

I agree, although also having no personal experience with Costa Rica. Thailand and Singapore have much more expensive 'visitor' SIMs on sale at the networks' airport kiosks, although in Indonesia the markup is less. Assuming a similar situation in Costa Rica, it's better to go to where the locals buy if possible.
