Dispute service charge, contact UK power networks, contact police. Criminal damage.

The HA can put locking sockets on which require a key to use should they choose to.

The extension lead is a hazard they should be dealing with.

Put a formal complaint in and follow the process. Take it through all stages and to ombudsman if necessary.

The extension cable running out the flat in a corridor sounds a serious trip and fire hazard.
    Might need that fixed pdq.
Complain to another external party such as whoever deals with health and safety about the service company's slap dash unsafe approach to these things might put pressure from 2 angles and also become harder to ignore?
May you find your sister soon Helli.
    Sleep well.
  • Update (thank you for your replies!)

I managed to get through today. I spoke with a duty officer who listened but seemed impatient with me, either that or just irritated. I am left feeling that I am just an annoyance. I hate complaining but in this world we have to sometimes.

It seems that, frustratingly, none of my emails have been recorded and they are going to send out a letter to residents asking them to abide by the contractual agreement. So, I am sending them, by post, copies of evidential emails to prove that I have reported these issues at least twice, so this is NOT a first time.

The woman I spoke with said if there is no prior evidence then only a standard letter will go out. I reiterated this is not the first time I have reported this, hence, sending my proof along with a cover letter.

Just wonder if anyone else feels horrible when making a complaint?

You need to put your complaint in writing and request it goes through the complaint process and you should get a written response.

Your call is unlikely to be treated as a complaint as such unless their policy is to log all dissatisfaction as a complaint.

Add copies of your sent emails as evidence also.

If your complaint is justified as yours is and it was made with the intention of preventing asb don't feel bad about it. In an ideal world nobody would need to complain but you've been burdened with problem neighbours, they deserve to be complained about.

@PinkPJs ask them for their ASB team's email address.  Contacting them should trigger their ASB process

I'm surprised there isn't CCTV evidence of the neighbour's sons damaging the door. My housing association block has CCTV on the entrances so this type of vandalism is recorded and to be fair, isn't tolerated by my HA. The extension lead should be visible to HA officers/caretakers when they do their regular safety checks. They ARE doing regular safety checks?

ETA don't feel bad for reporting your concerns. You have every right to complain and every right to have your complaint dealt with properly by your HA. I agree with the 'be a thorn in their side' comments. Be persistent, because if you're not, the HA will just close the file and you'll be starting from scratch each time you contact them. Keep a diary of incidents, contact with HA including date, time and names, so you can show that it's an ongoing problem you are complaining about.

Thank you, Jude.  The only thing they do is have cleaners once a week! Like I said, I've got email evidence and photos, which I am printing off tomorrow and will send in post. Xx

Thank you. I will indeed send it to the complaints' address, great tip. I'm printing evidence tomorrow and will send first class. Just such a hassle and really getting to me after nearly 5 years of problems here.
