Hi everyone, thanks for your comments. That is indeed the property and I can’t believe after bringing all of this to each of the agencies attention that it’s still on hotels.com with the same incorrect information.
I booked using the map feature on hotels.com. I wanted this area and clicked on the price tag to book the accommodation.

I paid and then confusingly received several emails from each agency.
As I am not from the area in Surrey (I live 100s of miles away) the name Cheldon doesn’t mean anything to me. All I knew was that I had looked up properties in Camberley and had booked exactly the area I needed to be on the map. The address on the confirmation email from vrbo says Camberley and then upon looking again the postcode is EX8. Obviously, I’m not from Surrey, I don’t know the post codes so this meant nothing to me. It’s only upon leaving the town in Surrey I was originally visiting (10 mins from Camberley) when I put the postcode in to my sat nav that I realised this property was 3.5 hours away according to the postcode.

    Seems you did.

Hotels.com said I’d booked the whole property.

As your booking clearly shows it to be one bedroom.

Interestingly this is the place you appear to have attempted to book. Although the post code differs.

Not sure its "clearly".... to me it shows they have booked a 1 bed property not 1 bedroom in a multi bedroom property and looking at the link for the property on Hotels.com it confirms its only a single bedroom property.

The OP at the outset referred to their family. Something the people letting were not expecting.  I incorrectly assumed that more rooms were expected. We can only deduce from the information communicated to us.

Yes, the info given... couple with baby who's bringing something for the baby to sleep in as said 3 posts above
  • It said entire cottage and the terms and conditions from the owners said they can’t accommodate for children over the age of 4 which lead me to believe small children are allowed to the property. I don’t need a separate room for my baby so booked the entire property with 1 bedroom.
My partner could’ve at least stayed had the property been where it said it was

    cottage
    /ˈkɒtɪdʒ/
    noun
    1. 1.
a small house, typically one in the country.
      "a holiday cottage"
    2. 2.
      INFORMAL•BRITISH
(in the context of casual homosexual encounters) a public toilet.
    verb
    INFORMAL•BRITISH
    1. perform homosexual acts in a public toilet.
"they said that at some point in their lives they've cottaged or cruised in parks"
Ignoring the latter definitions, although you may consider a cottage to be a self-contained unit, that isn't the definition of one. Any small house is apparently a cottage.

You had access to what the "entire cottage" was but it's really a red herring here, your issue is you booked accommodation in one place, and you got accommodation hundreds of miles away.

Agreed. Who you paid is who your contract is with, thus who you should pursue. How you paid determines what avenues you have for recovering the payment.

Exactly - and EX8 7EB does not exist.  Which perhaps may help track down where the error came from.
