It's not and the OP's report in all likelihood will never be seen by the police.Sandtree said:Action Fraud is the police so it would be duplication. As to what else you can do... that really depends on what they have done and if you think you have any accurate real world details about them. Unfortunately those truly intending to defaud, rather than sell "genuine fakes" etc, don't tend to give their real details.
Unless they are defrauding people by saying they are the police?SiliconChip said:DB1904 said:

Ok, I have spoken to the local police and they say it is correct it should be reported to Action Fraud only.
Loosing money is painful and I doubt I will see it again, lesson learned the hard way. I've warned as many people as I can. Not sure what else I can do.0 -
You've not said how you were scammed. I take it from this post that the location and identification of the suspect are unknown.mikcatta said:Ok, I have spoken to the local police and they say it is correct it should be reported to Action Fraud only.

I tried to purchase an item from Facebook and of course it never arrived. On closer examination, there were warning signs, that I stupidly overlooked. What details I have, are on the report to Action Fraud, but essentially details of the scammer are unknown.DB1904 said:

I assume you mean purchase an item that was advertised on Facebook?mikcatta said:

Was it an advert linking out to a company (what company?)?
Or was it a private sale via Facebook Marketplace or a local selling group (like the old newspaper classifieds)?
Facebook don't sell anything except advertising. Either you followed a link to a scam company or you have been scammed by a person in a private sale.0 -

In that case the police are correct and a matter for action fraud to record and them do nothing about. Unless they have a number of reports and can readily identify the suspect is in the UK the reference number is all you'll get from them.mikcatta said:
