Play.com 3 for £15 Warning - feat: Mike, the rudest manager alive

Options
I tried to post the full story here, but space is limited

quick version:

Play.com have a 3 for £15 on at the monemt, only it isn't Mix and match.

It's perfectly possible to add 3 items to your card, all with IDENTICLE "3 for £15" icons, without ever seeing that the offer is not mix and match (i.e. 2 DVDs and 1 Book <> £15, dispite icons).

When I phoned Play about this the customer diservice manager was rude (he told me I "needed glasses" and refused to search play.com for the items I had ordered to see how I had never been on the pages he claimed carried the warning)

well i find that it does clearly say on the Landing page, 3 DVD's for £15 and 3 books for £15.

Maybe you should phone mike (the pleb) and the organ grinder ( as you so politely put in on your blog) and appologise for him being in the right.

I cant believe you habe taken the time to record it!!:confused:

Its not mike that needs glass, pal its you, i can clearly see where it says the offer!

Or what should i record it instead:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Surely you would have noticed a price discrepancy on the checkout?

unfortunately, i dont have the time to record a 4 minute video, but ill show you just how clear you can see where it says
    3 dvds for £15

click on this link and open your eyes

    http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/6-/RegionHome.html

and the second link to 3 books for £15

again just as easy as the first, click it and open your eyes:

    http://www.play.com/Books/Books/6-/RegionHome.html

Now im not sure how i could make it easier,or do you need a video?:rotfl:
  • Did you not check the price at the payment conformation screen? The discount does come up in the basket section when you pick three DVD's or books that are on the offer so that part is working. It may not be the clearest thing in the world but the terms of the offer are on the site. I can understand your frustration in a way but I think your attitude stinks, in your video you go completely OTT with your comments towards the manager Mike. If you were half as rude in your conversation to him as you were in your video I feel very sorry for him.

(EDIT: Also if you click on the orange 3 for £15 Icon under the items it takes you to the page with the corresponding offer on ie: 3 DVD's for £15)

  • A wise man once said the two most important things in life are a sense of humour and a sense of proportion.

Anyway, as much as I doubt this quote will save the planet and all of our souls, it is relevant...

I know it's especially hard when you are in the right, but in the grander scheme of things wouldn't it be better just to tell Mike to shove the DVDs up...

Maybe Mike was just in a bad mood, hates his job and decided to annoy someone. Don't allow him or anyone to have that power over you because as soon as you get uptight they win.

Hope you have a great xmas Will. ;)

Michael Moore must be Sh!tting himself. I may video my ice cream man, as the other day my daughter had an ice cream with supposedly 100's and 1000's on it. Imagine my shock when I counted them and there was less than a thousand. Going to charge my camera up now, and tape over my old macintyre investigates video because I will be taking over is show.

    Watch this space.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
  • I'm a bit sorry I actually watched your video TBH, what a waste of five minutes! Ok so there is fault on Play's side here - the offer could have been clearer, but if you push the button to purchase soemthing it's up to you to check that you are being charged correctly BEFORE YOU BUY.

If not, simply clicking on the '3 for £15' icon and doing some more investigation would have shown you the problem by taking you to the offer page. I hardly think Play are the only offenders in not being clear on their websites and ok Mike should not have been quite so rude to you, but from your manner in the video I'm not sure that I would have much patience with you either.
I'm so sexy it's a wonder my underpants don't explode.

Having been intrigued by this thread for the past couple of days I did a little bit of investigating myself, and while I agree that it is reasonably clear that it's 3 DVDs for £15, 3 books for £15 etc (although I had to hunt a bit to find it all) I did stumble across something which people should be wary of:

If you order three items (from the same section) which individually cost less than £5, you will still be charged £15!!   I randomly picked three gadgets each costing £3.99, so total should have been £11.97, but my basket showed £15 total. Luckily I didn't want any of them, so deleted them all quickly ;)
