Best option for watching and recording TV?
Options

We're currently with PlusNet and have a YouView TV box through then which we can record on. We're going to change to a new broadband provider and I'm guessing we will no longer be able to use this box. If that is the case, what are the best options for watching and recording TV please? I don't want to buy into a TV package with the new provider and we don't have a smart TV. I just want to buy a one-off thing that will do the job. Thanks for reading and any advice would be much appreciated.

Don't assume that the box will cease to work. Assuming that your agreement doesn't state that you have to return it then it should still function as a freeview PVR.
This was my experience w/ a BT branded Humax YouView box. Anyone have direct experience of PlusNet's kit?0 -
We have a youview box. It’s very good without a sub. The only problem is our Ariel blew down during the last storm. If I’d got it fixed it probably would blow down again today.I don’t bother recording now. I just stream everything.0

https://www.plus.net/help/tv/changes-to-youview-tv/ Plusnet no longer do TV>>> You are no longer charged for it (except, perhaps BT Sport).
So the box is yours to keep and will work as a Freeview PVR until something goes wrong with the box.
Probably.
{I guess Plusnet could ask for its return but why would they?).
Call Plusnet and ask?
IF and only if they confirm you must return it or pay a 'charge' compare that to the price of a new Freeview Play PVR.
