Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark,- not so blustery this morning but rain forecast again today though.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and brekkie whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was sausage, mash, veg and gravy - not sure what we'll be having tonight.
Yesterday work wasn't too bad and was only half a day - did manage to get a job that I wanted to get done, done.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, I too had sausages for tea but no mash, it's the devil's food for me!
The storm yesterday wasn't as bad as feared here, it was wet and windy but we've had worse. Hope you are all safe and there isn't too much damage. DS1 works for the major energy supplier north of here, goodness knows what time he got home.
Hall radiator fixed, took him 2 minutes to tighten up a nut. I was complaining that the tops of the radiators didn't come off so I could clean inside, he brought in something similar to a leaf blower and blew all the dust out. Of course the vacuum wasn't charged to had to look at the dust bunnies for a while.
Back to work today, hoping for a calm day.
Hugs to those in need, take care. XX14 -
Morning all, thanks for starting us off nmlc.Yesterday was very nasty, just as the warnings predicted plus a bit extra. It was fascinating to watch it all play out from the comfort of my fireside chair. One minute there was blinding sunshine as the winds blew the clouds along the sky and the next a new darkness as the heavy rain clouds arrived. The day was mostly dark with small intervals of sunshine, most odd. Rain was coming down horizontally all day. The poor postie battled through it to deliver the ash vacuum and new router though he looked really miserable. As proper darkness became to fall at about 4.30, the power went out. I sorted out various candies into jam jars and went upstairs where I did some more re-arranging of things back into drawers. Eventually I climbed into bed, wearing too many clothes, and waited. There was only thinking to do so I began a mental plan and list of 'things to do for Germany trip' which didn't take too long and then the same for Australia which took longer. 😀 Right at the moment I was about to get bored the power returned. 🎉
It took me right back to the days of when Heath turned off the power for hours at a time though I can't remember what I did at home. Work closed down at about 3.30pm but what happened next is gone from my brain.Anyway...today is also stormy. Today I'll also stay firmly indoors. In office speak it's a smart target. 😂
I hope that everyone else is safe and warm. Thoughts to our poorlies. Happy Thursday to all.15 -

Good morning all,
Thanks for starting the thread nmlc. I will start with well wishes for anyone who needs them, and thinking of those who have been/are being affected/will be affected by these storms! It's not so bad here just now, yesterday was a lovely day for walking, and, for once, us in the very far north (Scotland) weren't on yesterday's wind warning! I have family in the affected area though, and so need to check everyone is ok, once folk are properly up and about. Yesterday's first shop of February went well, apart from Lidl not having the Pasta sauce I needed (they didn't have any of their standard stuff in), but had to get some stuff in Tesco too, so got some their. Came in on budget and dutifully recorded it in my little book - the aim this month is to properly measure spends. Dinner was baked tatties and DH has leftovers for lunch, so that's good. Tonight will be the risotto I put off from a couple of days ago. Wishing you all a pleasant and safe day, you know it's so nice to to back here again, you are all such an encouraging and helpful bunch.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. We still have the wind blowing but nowt like as bad as yesterday - until Storm Eunice arrives! Where are all these blooming gales coming from! The front garden looks to be full of rubbish yet again - being on a corner it blows into mine from all directions.
I spoke too soon yesterday, at the last minute we were down to just two of us. Our third friend was suffering her dizzy do's and didn't want to risk it. We ended up in Otley as not been for ages and the 99p cs and the everything 20p shop were calling! I didn't get anything in either but df got a few bits. We then backtracked to Ilkley for a late wine 'n dine and much catching up. My legs were at their worst thanks to being denied the tablets the sackless pharmacist couldn't get and it will take a while for my new supplies start to help. Anyone behind me must have thought they were following a drunk.
So a going nowhere day today but jobs await. The kitchen and bathroom top of the list for a good clean. It lessens the load for the Friday Tidy tomorrow. Two deliveries due - one for me and one for DGD as no-one in at their house to receive it. Mine is a new supply of cards for all the birthdays throughout the year from Whistlefish.
I need to make some soup first job for my next few days lunches. I think maybe leek and potato today as I have some sad leeks to use up.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and fed ups. Take care one and all and be safe xx

Good Morning everyone and please stay safe if possible. Its not bad down here in Kent at the moment, just a bit grey looking and breezy.Lets hope the wind blows away the clouds and we soon have some soft spring sunshine once more.
I have to drop DGS Jack off to work this morning ,but apart from that not a great deal to do today. A 'pottering 'day ahead I think, maybe turn out one of the odds and ends drawers in the kitchen and have a sort out.
Right off for a cuppa before I tackle the clogged up roads around my area we have City Fibre cable laying plus local council resurfacing at the same time so all of our roads are a nightmare at the moment .
Take care and stay safe chums

Good morning everyone and thanks for the thread nmlc.
Very blustery here last night but calm this morning. I hope those affected by the storms are doing okay with minimal damage.
Had a catch up with DDad and stepmum, followed by DSis last night. DH had gone to the pub so I was home alone. DD is coming home today for the weekend as due to strikes her lectures have been cancelled. If it’s not Covid wrecking her first year of uni, it’s strikes affecting year 2 – couldn’t make it up.
Dinner will be something with beef mince to s-t-r-e-t-c-h – probably pasta bake. I am keeping to the healthy eating and am feeling less tired, so all good.
Had an acknowledgement for my job application saying they’re still sifting through the applicants. Not a No but still a maybe then. We shall see.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to all those who could use one.

Morning
Very windy last night, pretty scary hope everyone’s survived it damage free
Sorted a couple of DIY jobs out yesterday. I was close to having a lock changed on my back door after my neighbour said it was broken when she looked after my house. It would be an expensive job so had a look myself and sure enough it was stuck. Cue my much missed Dads advice he gave me once to spray the key with WD40 leave for a while and try again and bingo it worked. Anyway saved me a lump of money so was a happy bunny. Wish he’d written a book his tips are invaluable.
Decluttered some stuff to the bin including a dead robot hoover which was always next to useless but had finally packed up completely. Another bag of office shizel went too. My stationery addiction is very obvious as I slowly try to sort it all.
Pasta was lovely last night chucked in garlic, ham onions mushrooms peas and spinach. Will declutter a few leftovers for brekky. Last bit of fakeaway donner tonight with chilli sauce in some fresh wraps and a big salad.
Shopping delivery later this morning which is good as the fruit and veg stuff needs replenishing. Still no freezer stuff ordered so spaces are appearing finally
Have a good day all and stay safe in the storms.

Morning everyone
Well it was wild and windy here yesterday and still the same this morning - not as bad as storm Arwen though so grateful for that.
Busy yesterday sorting clothes etc as I have a lady coming from the Heart Foundation shop on Saturday to collect them - I have quite a few bags to go.
Other than that just pottered and read some more of my book. Had a nice chat with little one before she went to bed - they had been swimming and watched puppet shows - she was very excited!
Going to have a walk down to the nearest shop this morning and then will call at mam and dads - had problems downloading Audible books yesterday - after a lengthy online chat it turned out it's a problem with their system. I'm thinking if I delete it and then re-install it might work it's worth trying.
Hope everyone is alright in the storms - Gers you seem to have had it the worst. I charged my phone and laptop up in the afternoon in case the power went off but it was fine, just a couple of flickers.
Well I'm going to get on. Have a good day everyone x14
