Virgin Media O2 will no longer charge customers a disconnection fee if they move to homes that aren't connected to its cable network. The shake-up could save users £100s - though transfer fees of £20 remain for those who stay with provider when moving home.

Good news
Waiting for all the jobsworth members' comments who were quick to scold others for "breaking the contract as it's their choice to move somewhere VM doesn't provide" when the last asked for advice on how to avoid the said fees.
Time for the transfer fees to go too. It doesn't cost them 20£ to make a change in software.1 -

Excellent point0 -
Are you suggesting that the correct advice should have been "Don't move house yet because at some point in the future VM may change their policy and not charge exit fees" ? What do you think the advice should have been?agentcain said:

I would imagine it costs them more than £20 in reality.agentcain said:Good news

All Virgin Media have done is made the decision to make existing customers bear the cost to try to entice new nomadic customers.
Like Darth Vader, they can alter the deal. Pray they don't alter it any further.

Right next to "how dare these plebs move house? They should be charged extra, as if they don't have enough expenses already!"flaneurs_lobster said:

The correct advice should have been "here's a nice little legal trick to avoid them. Don't be their customer again. Let them actually compete for your custom"
Lol sure. Their highly specialised engineering department. Nothing they can't already cover off their profit. Oh wait, they already employ them to maintain the network.southsidergs said:
