57.79p is the new standing electric charge for my area, which is over 100% increase on what I am paying at the moment, streuth, thought prices were only going up by 50% odd. This is getting ridiculous.

The '50%' quote was always a rough average as the exact increase is different for everyone depending on your mix of electricity and gas.
The electricity standing charge is going up so much mostly because of the levy to recover the SoLR costs.

Yes, at the moment I am on cash/cheque, will be looking to change this, but it is still  a rise on over 100%.

Thanks god i took the decision to fix  E7 electricty with EDF in November for 2 years  33.68/11.00 and SC 23.9 incl VAT. As my E7 mix is roughly 50/50 this gives avg unit price of about 22p..

Gas sticking to variable for now...
  • I'm certainly wishing there had been some offers out there that good for us over the past  few months - I'd have had their hand off for that if it had been available to us!

The electricity standing charge is going up by 100%, true, but the electricity unit rate is only rising by 35%.
For an average user it's a 43% increase in electricity bill overall.
(For gas, the standing charge is hardly changing but the unit rate is increasing by around 80%. The average user sees an increase of 69%.)

  • What's shocking is how out of touch the politicians are.  They have suggested rearranging the titanic chairs with the 'support' being offered while hitting us with a tax increase from April.

It's all going to end in tears and suicides.
