Hi everyone,
Nanny, good to see you posting but I'm sorry you have been having a hard time recently.
I picked up the five quilts yesterday, it will take a while to bind them to get them finished but then I need to decide what to do with them. I shall keep a couple probably and see if the kids want any. I've never sold a quilt because it would annoy me to let them go for a fraction of their cost, each one is a labour of love that takes hours, not to mention I only use natural fabrics wadding and thread so the basic cost of material is higher than you'd think. Also, I'd hate to have someone buy one and complain about the odd wonky line, if I give them away they would be churlish to complain if they noticed.
I need to get going, we are off to L & B's later to Esben wrangle tomorrow and I need to make veggie flapjacks, cinnamon buns and star biscuits to take with us for the wee man. I need to get the dough ready to prove for the first time then I can nip out for some dog food and the few bits I forgot yesterday. Pasta tonight with tomato veg and leftover gammon sauce.
Have a good day.

Morning all, hugs/good wishes to those who need them, and a kick up the bum to anyone who wants one of those too! I have been quite productive organising finances this morning, but might pop out later with DS (14) - though I can hear the rain outside so might wait and see it it dries up a bit! Last day of mid-term break, so still a bit of a relaxed mood in our house today! Wishing you all a good day, whatever you are up to.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Morning all, we have another stormy day here, lots of wind and rain again. Firstly I need to thank everyone for their lovely messages/pm's. They were all very much appreciated, thank you 😍.
I couldn't get to sleep last night and was still awake at 5am so maybe a nana nap may be on the cards for later, even though yesterday was a productive day I still couldn't put my mind to rest. I finished my jigsaw, broke it up, boxed it and then put it and the board away neatly. I also did a load in the wm, cleaned out the water filter jug, wiped down the kitchen and portioned up the Italian meatballs. I'll have a fight with the freezer to get the portions of meatballs in today but I'll set aside one portion and have some with pasta for tea, may cook a part baked baguette too, just to mop up the sauce 😋 Today I have a few small things that need my attention and we need to then sort out some items ready to take away this weekend. I have some tops to iron ready for packing, so I'll do those this afternoon. It feels like a take 2 on this holiday as we had to move our Oct one to this half term as DGD had tested positive for covid the day before we were due to go, luckliy she had no symptoms but was still infectious. Later I want to watch a few more episodes of Snowpiercer on Netflecks, I think I'm hooked !
The bin men have just emptied the recycling box so I'll dress up like a fisherman's friend and go out to collect it before it disappears down the road. Hope everyone has a good day and stays safe in these storms.
Take care all

Gers - I love daffodils. My mam buys me a bunch every week while they are available - and one for herself too. She has done for several years now - I have them on my kitchen windowsill so I can see them when I am washing up and cooking.10

Morning all, MIA yesterday but have now caught up with all the gossip.
It's raining here (like yesterday) and forecast to be with us all week so I'll not be venturing far anywhere unless I have to. Yesterday I had to use the TD to get the bedding dry, not very MSE I know, but needs must.
I have a grocery delivery coming this afternoon and the email says everything I ordered is in stock so I'm a happy bunny. It shouldn't take too long to put it away as there's not much for the freezer. There's a bit of fresh for the fridge but it's mostly stuff for the cupboards since I've been running pantry stock down since the beginning of the year.
One phone call to make today, I need to check when my retinal screening test is next week. I didn't make a note of it (not like me) and haven't had a confirmation letter yet. I'm not looking forward to it but needs must as it's important especially as I didn't have one last year, thanks to Covid. They were only calling in those who were at severe risk and thankfully I'm not in that category.
Dinner tonight is stir fry using some cooked chicken from the freezer, just need to prep the veggies beforehand.Gers, it’s a pity the Openreach engineer can’t do what he needs to do remotely but it sounds as if you have plenty to occupy your time with while you’re waiting!
TA, what a lovely Valentine’s surprise for you, enjoy the choccies. And your Tuesday jaunt. I know what you mean about sackless pharmacies - they’re the bane of my life sometimes.
Camelot, that’s a shock about DD’s car - and they say women drivers are bad!
Fingers crossed for the pedicure/manicure, bellabella.
Happy haircut dp1.
Nan - I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been struggling with your health and hope each day will bring some improvement for you.
Have as good a day as you can everyone - stay safe, warm and dry! XBe kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Good morning all, and thanks for the thread nmlc.
Slightly later post from me as we've just dropped our car off to be (minor) serviced and MOT'd. We took a service plan when we got the car on PCP so only the MOT and anything needed to pay for. I'm thinking it will need tyres but we shall see....
Need to go to PAH later to buy dog bowls as DS1 dropped pup here last night with neither food or water bowls. Poor pooch had to chase his breakfast around the kitchen in a tupperware tub! He's with us until Thursday night as usual so will get bowls to keep here.
Dinner tonight is steak, chips, roasted vine tomatoes and portobello mushrooms. It's one of only two days this week that DS2 will be here for dinner as he gets fed at work. I will use up some salady bits at lunchtime, not really the weather for it but I need to eat better if I'm ever to shift these lockdown pounds!
Off to the cinema tonight for Death on the Nile.
Have a good day folks.

Openreach engineer is here, lovely chap. He's declared the router dead so I need to order a new one from BT, it's so annoying as I told them that a new router is needed. Grrr... Now it'll be another few days until it arrives. The engineer is just as fed up with the process as me, he told me that 17 routers shorted during the lightning strike last week and he was sent to them all. Mine survived the strike (albeit with a blue spark) but was weakened by the planned power outage on Friday. He's busy changing my master socket for a new one as mine is an old model - probably only five years old.Snoozer - and what a labour of love five quilts must have been. I understand you're reluctance to sell your work, you've invested not only time and money but also a part of you. They'll keep until a special occasion arises.13 -

Morning all, dreadful weather. And so cold! Something about it must have kept me in bed, i haven't long got up..Mind you, I did got to bed after 2 and couldn't sleep for ages. It's a light the fire day too I think. I have an ecg at the docs today so need to shift myself and shower and dress. i slobbed around in jammies and a dressing gown yesterday but gave myself a mental kick up the wotsits, [thanks Orkney for the actual one] because otherwise, I'll keep living in the moment and not make any plans...Fatty has gone out into the weather, probably because he's going to whoever else is feeding him for treats. Normally, I leave the back door open for them when they're out but not today I'm afraid. I got them some new chip discs to come back in because the flap wouldn't read their microchips so I'm prepared to wrangle some new collars on them this afternoon..Camelot, good job no one was hurt! snoozer, yes, another vote for etsy, see if they go at full price for what it cost in materials AND in labour, don't undervalue them either. Izzy, enjoy your week off...Gers, my mother loved daffodils too, she'd put them anywhere and everywhere in pots and in the ground...Take care and do a bit of self appreciation for the stuff you all do.....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10

Csarina, how ridiculous that the site censors D!ck. They look like a lovely family on TV.
Gers, taff and Floss, thank you. Part of the conflict is that I only make patterns that really attract me and I try to challenge myself. If they were simple designs they wouldn't take as long. Hopefully, below you'll see one of them before quilting.15
