Lol at 11 staplers GALE 😂I'm a bit of a hoarder too, but not quite that bad!
Anyway , I've really looked at my shopping habits , after starting this thread, and haven't had to buy anything this week .I haven't automatically gone for the usual online shop, featuring my "favourites" , and am using up what I've got in , before shopping again .

  • I'm absolutely a food hoarder and a feeder! 🙈😂
I'm happy with it though - total minimalist in every other aspect of my life but having had many times of financial insecurity during childhood and in my 20's and 30's a fully stocked kitchen is my security blanket!

i am dreading cleaning out my mothers when she dies.. I love my mother and hope she's with me for a long time yet... but my gosh that woman is a hoarder!

i mean the tried and true definition of the word, she has "stuff" everywhere!

last year she went on holiday and i cleaned her kitchen and threw away 80 takeaway containers.  don't get me wrong i love a takeaway container for storing bits and bobs! but she had so many they where cluttering up the worktops because the cupboards where full.  even after throwing 80 away i left her with 20 odd...

Containers - that does sound exactly like my mother!  There were dozens of glass jars and yoghurt pots and she hated throwing anything away that could be used (and that was subjective as well) - but it never would be because there was simply too much.

When I cleared her house I found eleven staplers.

Grief!  My late DM loved a container, be it a box, a plastic carrier or whatever.  I have a sort of wooden box from my very late beloved Dad who died in 1997 which she kept.  On the bottom he wrote 'bought 05 December 1957' and it is, I think, a container for Imperial Leather shaving soap which used to be housed in wooden boxes.  Can't throw it way just yet, it's too soon!

My beloved mother was a hoarder of food.  If you have an idle moment checking on the decluttering thread from March / April last year will show you how much!  I was getting rid of so much old food, some dating back to 1999.  Her large kitchen was so well organised with huge cupboards and shelves.

@Gers I would like to read that (my mother was also a hoarder of food - as well as everything else) but I can't identify which thread it is. Do you mind if I ask you for a link to it?

The 'new and improved' search function is useless, sorry!  I hope that others can help.
If it was last year, it’ll be this one. Can only go back a page at a time on my phone though so anyone who wants the relevant bit will need to search themselves.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • @elsien click autorotate on your phone, tilt it a bit and No1 pops up, along with about 5 other pages before the current one. Sorry if you already know that.

Thanks for everyone's help finding Gers post - I think I've looked at the right thread (as in Elsien's post), but I haven't found the post yet!
