I've just realised today, that I'm accidentally hoarding food?Since I've been online shopping during covid, things have started to accumulate , in the cupboards, fridge n freezer.
I need to go back to doing a list, n meal plan, as there's only me n the pooch to feed, n frankly I've better things to spend my money on
Please tell me I'm not the only one

I didn't shop online for food but stocked up mainly in our little local Coop. Enough to cover current need but a few extras to cover stock shortages which happened from time to time.If I had to go into town I would call in SBs where I often shopped over the years. They lost track of hands, face ,space and they stopped restricting the number of customers in the store so I haven't shopped there since.I used to shop for some foods in Marks so as they were taking all precautions I would go there if I was in town.I just had to add up my receipts and deduct the total from my debit card balance and I knew what I'd spent.Pleased you have another Pooch candy. I've never forgotten Bonnie.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

It's when the 'overflow' food box under the dining room table, added at the beginning of lockdown because of all the shortages, has now become a permanent fixture.

I do a bit - having grown up in a household where things were really tight, I think it's ingrained. We never went hungry though. I have well-stocked cupboards and freezers. I like to know we can always get a meal.
If we go abroad or just on holiday somewhere, i have to go and buy food (abroad particularly as you tend to fly with none). It doesn't have to be much - usually eggs, crackers, fruit, cereal. Then i can relax.I wanna be in the room where it happens6 -
VJSMUM, I'm the same on hols too , always need bread n cheese"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

You know you’re a food hoarder when the freezer Tetris gets so out of hand you contemplate buying another freezer.
Even when it is only you and the pooch and his food comes in a bag.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I'm another one who also plays Freezer Tetris but mines mainly what DH brings in usually pheasants and unfiltered fish...all of which have to be sorted and bagged before they go in!
Candy Girl, I would dearly love another Freezer ours is a over 40 years old chest Freezer, they don't make any more, I love it, but another one would be wonderful so I could put 'everyday ' meals in it without having to hunt!!
I've always grown up to know about hoarding food as we stayed on a very remote farm, even being married I carried that on as we still stay of the beaten track, 40 mins from the nearest wee food shop. I like to know we have everything to hand if the electricity goes or we get snowed in, we have lost electricity for a week since Christmas and the only thing I was bothered about keeping going with the Genny was the Freezer!!!4 -
I have been in a situation a few times where not buying any food for a few weeks is a fall back when skint.
When we moved to Wales I wanted to have longer term storage so built up a store cupboard. When covid hit and there were food shortages the only thing we ran out of was bread flour. We don't have full freezers, just in case we have power cuts, but I do pressure can, and we have dried and tinned food for around 6-9 months, more at a push.4
