Damp smokeless coal

An interesting discussion. I also have a multi burner and a wood burner, in different rooms of courseThe wood burner plus oil are my two main sources of heat. I buy the odd bag of nuggets and use it with small logs.
Now though that gas, electricity, and oil have taken a major hike I’m thinking of using more solid fuel. I’d be interested to know though how much it has risen over this past few months.
To those of you who use coal/nuggets on a regular basis which would you recommend for a multi burner? I live in the country and outside a smoke controlled zone.0 -
From what i have seen, coal is definitely cheaper than smokeless "coal", so probably there is nothing to choose from. Not sure about performance.
As far as smokeless is concerned, I have found it in 10Kg bags at £4.00 (there are a few options to choose from), but I don't know yet if a brand is better than another. I use about 1/3 to 1/2 a bag and it lasts me from the afternoon till about 10-11 at night. If needed I can have a boost banging a piece of wood in it.
What I have found most difficult is to get a "feel" for it and I am still practicing. Well, actually I am going to light the fire now0
