The bill probably resets each calendar month; today is the 1st.

Between the word BILL and thr £ symbol you can see an icon for the load control switch. I can't find the manual for the 5-terminal ES-12B, but according to the manual for the 4-terminal ES-10B the icon only appears when the load control switch is closed, ie. during E7 hours.

When did you take the photo? Would you expect E7 to be active then, or not? Is the icon showing right now?

That icon could be your smoking gun that proves the meter is mis-configured.

That picture was taken at 15:48 today. Economy7 would not be on at this time. I'm not 100% but I think the timings are 00:30 to 07:30 for Economy7.

OK, so you wouldn't expect the load control switch icon to be showing at that time.

TL;DR: The meter appears to have been working correctly at the times the photos were taken.

Sorry, but I think you're 180° out of phase !  My interpretation and understanding of the instructions is that the icon is completely intuitive.  It shows that the switch is open during the day (open circuit icon present) and closed during the night (E7 rate in operation so no icon displayed).

Of course it would be better for the meter had two LCD segments representing the switch blade (one horizontal, one at 45°) and it always selected the relevant one, but obviously it's a cheapskate design.

I guess it's a matter of interpretation. I took "L icon ON: ALCS is on" to mean that when the L icon is displayed, the E7 terminal was live.

"ALCS on = E7 off" is not intuitive to me.

I guess they are saying the load control is active so the load is disconnected, which would be consistent with the icon showing a broken connection.

Similarly when the 'M' icon is illuminated with that broken connection it means the main supply is disconnected.

I don't have an Immersion Heater, just one big storage heater. Next to it is a switch box, with one big switch and a little switch. The big switch is always on, and when I get up in the night I switch the little switch on, and that controls the heating element. I think it only controls the heating element.

What is the make/model of your storage heater? Can you share a photo?

There's a small compact Ariston water heater that's only used for washing, washing up etc. Don't use a bath only the shower.
