Realistically, if they have started the process, then cancelling now will make your wife liable for all their costs so far.  It's only "no fee" if you support them all the way through the claim process.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • At one time insurance companies used to include a claim form in the pack that you could keep in the car. It helped you understand just what information you needed to provide but more importantly had a Claims Telephone number.

Maybe we should put a note of the *correct* number in the glove box rather than rely of the internet which we all know does not always give the correct answer.

When I renew my insurance each year, I always print out the actual insurance details with all the numbers on there, I have never had to use it yet, ( fingers crossed) but it’s there should I need it, also handy if I’m ever stopped by the police for any reason .

Given most people have a mobile phone (smart or not) Simply enter Ins co's details in contacts with their numbers.

Seems a bit harsh to blame google for a failure to ensure that it was the correct number.

I was going to post the same, as well as adding your current breakdown company phone number too. Assuming you will always will be able to Google it at the roadside is naive, as mobile data coverage isn't 100%.
