If the budget is around £500 from the Dell Outlet site, although slightly over budget I would probably pick https://www.dellrefurbished.co.uk/item/dell-latitude-7400-618bdfb9/dell-latitude-7400/1.html?child=dell-latitude-7400-000008&p=1
Dell Latitude 7400 - i7 8th Gen 4 Core CPU, 16Gb RAM, 256Gb SSD, 14" FHD Display £539 or £549 with touch screen
The Asus Vivobook is a good alternative and is a better spec.0 -
Don't rush into anything, get a feel for the tradeoffs and monitor some of the main sites for what's on offer.trying__2b_good said:Thank you. I find it all totally unfathomable . I know £500 isn’t a lot of money in the laptop world but it’s a lot of money for me, especially if I end up with something rubbish.
£500 will get something decent might even get something new, nearly new or higher spec a bit older.
Any reason for a laptop.
I am pondering my next machine a leaning towards the micro boxes and regular screen(s)
Hp 800 mini is an example
For portable day to day I have migrated to a phone, sit at a desk for proper stuff.

Thanks again for the responses. I’ve been wanting something for a while but just totally stumped.I’ve been quite unwell and need it for consultations and some rehab therapy that’s done on teams. Trying to hold my phone for them is a nightmare so it’s become something that I need asap really.Think I’ll just have to make a decision and get something from a reputable seller then at least it can go back if there’s a problem0

Here is another lenovo offer, not checked the specs against the other options so far.
(Might not be upgradable from 8GB ram though)

agree Inspiron are solid bits of kit.
should be some codes around to get some money off
The outlet will have some, pot luck what's in stock though (often returns so close to brand new)

If all you want to do is a bit of browsing and email it would be ok and just about do the job.
If you are going to tax it in any way with photo editing etc then the processor is not good, lacks memory and has very little onboard storage.0 -
