in Techie Stuff
I’ve been looking for a laptop for a while and I’m tech useless so could do with some advice.
The work tech guy has recommended Dell refurbs, I’ve narrowed it down to 2. The choice is basically a i5 processor with a FHD screen or an i7 with an HD ?
I’ll be using it for work stuff but to watch films etc

Personally I'd go with the FHD (1080p) screen over HD (720p) every day.
i5 vs i7 isn't enough info to compare performance overall, high end i5's can be faster then low end i7's and also depends on which generation of processor so if you want to compare you'll need to provide the full processor ID, eg i5-11000 etc.

"Work stuff" might depending what it is might need something specific with performance that eats into the budget
For general stuff the focus made change to better human interfaces and older guts.
If it's for work why are work not providing it.0 -
Thank you for your replies. I have a work one but whilst I can use it for certain things at home, it’s really just for work stuff.
My iPad is on its last legs so it’ll be to replace that and to use for office, word etc?I will be watching TV, films .0 -
Budget is £500 ish, those 2 have 35% off currently0

I realise I sound as thick as… but I am with tech stuff.I’m a salesman’s dream so don’t want to go into PC world etc and buy whatever.
I want a decent multi purpose laptop that will last a while.I love my photos and editing etc, if that makes a difference?I can hear the eye rolls of computer savvy folk but I’m grateful for any advice0 -

I have always found that dell site expensive even with discounts when comparing to alternative sources once short listed.
Prefer dell outlet which if probably where you guys were sending you.
Those are 7th gen so quite old.
Have a look on HotUKDeals at deals around the £500 mark
This was £550

On a quick glance looks better value.

Thank you. I find it all totally unfathomable . I know £500 isn’t a lot of money in the laptop world but it’s a lot of money for me, especially if I end up with something rubbish.0
