Universal Credit not crediting Class 3 NI?

I am not aware of other benefits being affected, but who knows as it's difficult to get meaningful information out of DWP. A FOI request from Dec 2021 indicated 855 cases were "raised for further investigation" between Nov 2020 and Nov 2021 (and was first identified in 2019). Given the number of people posting about it on forums such as this, I would think the issue is far more widespread that those statistics would suggest. It certainly doesn't affect all claimants, but affects far more than 855. It is not clear what they are counting as a 'raised case'. At present they seem to be manually fixing on a case by case basis and I imagine the team of people working on it are small.MrsBrooks13 said:
Does it affect all NI credit-earning benefits or just UC?NedS said:You are not alone. The standard response is that they are aware there is an issue and a process is in place to remedy it, with those cases closest to SPA being prioritised. No indication is given if your specific case is one of those actually affected by this 'known issue' or if it is some other completely unrelated issue, nor any indication as to a timescale for when it may be resolved.
I agree that contacting one's MP is probably the only realistic way at present to get answers or have one's own individual case looked at.

As this issue would appear to be widespread, it certainly needs to be raised with MPs if enough MPs get enough grief from their constituents they will act.

Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.3 -
It's affecting pretty much everyone on Universal Credit and the DWP are prioritising those within a few months of pension age. However those who have now signed off UC have not been credited either, even if they've been off benefits for a year or two.
It's extreme unsatisfactory as the timescale for making up credits is due mid 2023 and UC are completely messing up the opportunity to make partial year top ups if they are necessary.
It's extremely unlikely in future decades that all those who should have been given stage 3 credits will be, particularly those who will have already signed off UC.
No one seems to be trying to deal with the issue in a coherent way.
