Advice re disastrously unsafe roof

Did the extension need planning permission? If it did you should be able to download the plans from the council planning department and they might be interesting and/or have the architects name on. Unless you have them already!

We had a very similar sounding issue when we bought our first house. I forget the exact details (this was a little over 20 years ago!!) but the extension roof wasn't properly attached to the wall of the house and also wasn't properly attached to walls of the extension (or something like that).
We got it fixed as we were having a load of building work done anyway - but it had been like that for at least 10 years without collapsing.
