i might be over 25 - I might not be
All i can say is that in the last 50 years I have never been asked for ID and never carried my driving licence0 -
You're lucky you still have hair to recede, and I say that as someone in my thirties!NBLondon said:
I have not carried my driving licence routinely for the last 20 years. The folk at Sainsbury barely glance at me when checking I'm over 25. Mind you, I'm in my early 50s with receding and greying hairMattMattMattUK said:I don't know anyone adult who doesn't carry a driving license now, I have carried one in my wallet for as long as I have had it.

Really? You don't know anyone who doesn't have a driving licence?MattMattMattUK said:
I am in my thirties, in the last five years I have been asked for ID when buying beer in Sainsbury's and expensive wine in Waitrose, there is no way that I could be viewed as under 25. Not only do retailers now tend to have a Challenge 25 policy (up from 21), but many also do random spot checks as well as a matter of routine. No adults nope. I know people who live in Central London who don't own a car and I know people 18-25 who don't own a car, but they still learned how to drive and some older people who no longer drive but still have their license. That is not overly surprising though considering around 80% of people 17 and older have a driving license, with demographic variations, I live in the Buckinghamshire and the Home Counties have the highest level of car ownership in the UK.Andy_L said:

I know people who don't have a car but I have no idea whether they have a licence. Not sure how I would.0

Know if they learned to drive, seen a driving license when they were asked for ID, seen them drive before they did not have a car, on holiday with a hire car etc.GaleSF63 said:I know people who don't have a car but I have no idea whether they have a licence. Not sure how I would.0 -
You actually said 'carry' a driving licence, though discussion has moved on to 'holding' a driving licence.MattMattMattUK said:

However, I never carry mine, though I'm definitely not going to be challenged over my age
Stepson, early 40s, intelligent, well educated with decent job, doesn't have one. Over many years he took several lots of driving lessons but never managed to pass his test. His wife and son both drive, so I guess he's now given up and is happy to be chauffeured around.0 -
I don't have one either - there are plenty of people with medical conditions (epilepsy, blindness etc) that may prevent them from drivingbadger09 said:MattMattMattUK said:

I was shopping a while ago and bought some paracetamol. This was flagged up at the self scan till as needing proof of age. When someone came along I offered to show him my bus pass. He looked at me and then said I couldn’t possibly be old enough to have a bus passMattMattMattUK said:
