Morning everyone
Turned out to be nice and sunny here yesterday afternoon - I sat outside with little one for a bit while she played on her bike. DD popped to the supermarket without her. She was thrilled to be able to go out in the garden again now the fence is back up....though she was asking when it will fall down again! Hopefully never!
Other than that pottered and did a few jobs and read my book.
This afternoon I'm getting the bus into town to see Belfast at the cinema - I have a free ticket as I steward there so will only cost the bus fare. It seems a very decadent thing to do on a Wednesday afternoon when I should be at work! I'm looking forward to it.
Totally agree about how much smaller cakes and biscuits are now - chocolate bars are the same - I bought some Milky Ways for little one and they are tiny!
Well I'm going to move myself and get dressed - hope everyone has a good day today17 -
Morning, hugs if you need one.
Out early doors this morning, haircut at our local hairdressers, its now nice and short, no longer look like a shaggy dog!!
We had rain overnight, lots of puddles on the road. I really must get my car cleaned, its filthy. Not so bad inside but outside yukkkk.
Much better night last night, woke a couple of times, but soon went off to sleep again. Last night on the settee tonight. My neighbour came round and we lowered the bed, its about 4 inches lower, so should make getting in easier. I still have room to put things under the bed.
Salmon salad tonight, will cook the salmon this morning. no dessert.15 -
Hi Chums ,just made some peanut butter cookies from Delia's recipe for my DGS's OH, and there seems to be quite a bit of uncooked dough left over.
Has anyone frozen it successfully as I am not keen on peanut butter biscuits at all, but I really don't want to throw it away
If it will freeze well, next time DGD visits she can take it home with her.I am meeting her at the local shopping centre so really don't want to take the uncooked dough with meThe melting moments biscuits that I made for my DGGDs are all boxed up and look delicious .None of my DGS like peanut butter at all so no good giving them any

A wee heads up about postage stamps - https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2022/02/anyone-with-stacks-of-stamps-at-home-has-less-than-one-year-to-u/Taff - how wonderful for you as a child, all the latest technology!Jackie - I have no idea but it makes sense that it would freeze OK. Or perhaps bake the biscuits and freeze them?

Good afternoon,
Late one from me but not because I've been lying in bed all morning😴, not this time anyway😂😂.
Prepped an lamb casserole for tonight's dinner then went for a 5 mile walk🚶♀️ calling in to buy some wraps on the way round. Just grabbing a quick coffee☕ then I'm going to make some lemon drizzle muffins🍋 to use up 3 lemons that I've had a while.
May paint 👩🎨a bit more furniture later
Have as good a day as you can 🌻12 -
@Gers yep, the latest technology in washing machines, microwaves and dishwashers
But once we had something, it was never gotten rid of, not if it could be repaired anyway, so the dishwasher lasted 20 years, the microwave 25, the washing machine 30 I think [ my father kept changing the brushes, replacing the door handle etc] He just got a new one in 2015...
And television is still in the living room in all it's cathode ray glory....Along with the VHS player....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11 -
Afternoon all. All quiet on the weather front last night with a dull start to this morning but the sun has put in an appearance, albeit with a strong breeze. It doesn't feel as warm as the weatherman said it would be though.
Went to the Co-op yesterday and spent the grand total of £2.41 - milk, spring onions and sprouts (both ys) and a couple of bananas (for me, DH doesn't like them). I had two membership MOCs to use, 25p off the milk and another 25p off the bananas so they were virtually free (the bananas, not the milk).
This morning I took the two bags of unwanted fabric to the CS and had a quick look round but didn't see anything I wanted. Tbh, I'm still a bit nervous about being around other people so probably didn't dally as long as I would normally have done. I wasn't tempted to cross the road and pop into M&S either. It's a large food hall (can also be used as a click & collect for other M&S goods) but I don't really need any more groceries just yet and I know the freezer doesn't have a lot of room in it yet. That's a WIP.
Today is soup making day and this week's offering is celery & bacon. Tonight we're having fish fingers, chips and peas.
I saw the MSE news item about postage stamps yesterday and thought how ironic that I have a diary reminder to buy a book of stamps later this month. Having read this article, I don't think I'll bother as it seems a lot of faffing around to get them changed, plus I still have a few left in the drawer anyway.
A few things got crossed off the To Do list yesterday; a clean behind all the radiators (so much dust) and a clean out of the cutlery drawer - the worktop above doesn't get used for food prep so it beats me where all the crumbs come from.
I also tidied the baking cupboard and found a half open packet of trifle sponges, an unused packet of caramelle dessert mix and a packet of lemon meringue pie mix. I'll own up and say these have all gone past their BB date but they'll still be OK so won't get wasted. That's desserts sorted for the next few weeks.
Jackie: I too learned the list principle from working days. Like you, I have To Do lists, lists for fridge/freezer/store cupboard items, shopping lists (needed now and will be needed soon) and notebooks for projects. I don’t think I could function without them! Not to mention appointments diary, budget book, banking spreadsheet and so on.
Gers: When my children were little we had a coin meter operated TV (50p a time, can’t remember how many hours it lasted) that a chap came monthly to open the box, took what he had to collect and refunded anything over and above that amount. We were much more selective about what and how much we watched! And yes, I agree about the smaller sizes of cake bars etc. Nowadays I just bake my own stuff if we fancy anything like
TA: Well done on the healthy option, what did you have? (Just being nosy
)
Scarlet: Yep, I get that too with the left wrist - I put it down to old age.
IzzyBee: Glad the dentist went OK; as you say, it’s done with now.
Thoughts with those who are poorly, worried or feeling stressed - try to take some "me" time if you need it. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.15 -
YorksLass - veggie chilli and rice. I'm not a veggie but do eat a lot of vegetarian stuff."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10

London_1 - Anything they sell frozen like biscuit dough, you can freeze at home. I do it a lot here so we don't eat too many cookies (biscuits) at a time.10
