The small claims court is for losses, not all that other nonsense where they simply wont entertain it.
You need to get legal help and go to the county court for the other stuff, that costs a lot of money which personally I believe you are throwing away.
In the small claims court you can have the second hand value of the dress plus cleaning costs and expences. They would expect you to attend mediation beforehand where an offer would probably be made by the cleaners,.Failing to do that or if the judge decides the offer is fair could see you lose expenses.
Canceling everything is a bit over the top so don't think its easy to pull the wool over the judges eyes.
Cancelling may seem over the top, but due to other issues as well as the dress being the main one, it's unfortunately the case. I just thought I could use the cancellation emails as proof.
It does seem over the top to be honest - that combined with the remote link to the dry cleaner in the first place makes me think any losses from the cancellation will be tough to claim.0 -

That said, you could phone the telephone number for their legal advice line (which is also in the policybook that could tell you if you have the cover) and they'll be sure enough to say they wont talk to you if you dont have the cover on the policy when they check.0 -

If you have taken out legal expenses insurance on your home cover it typically provides two things:
1) 24/7 legal advice on almost any topic... they wont get into the real nuts and bolts of an individual claim but will tell you the principles and general approach to take
2) Claims - for specific topics (of which consumer rights is normally one) they will pay for legal representation as long as i) they think your chances of winning are 51% or more and ii) the cost of pursuing the claim is proportional to the amount being claimed (ie they wont pay £5,000 in solicitor fees to try and get a £8.50 TFL charge back)
The point of mentioning LE cover was more about the first service it gets, so you have qualified advice rather than advice from strangers on the internet but potentially option 2 is open depending on the total cost of the claim and what they feel your prospects are.1 -

Quote Me Happy is Aviva's "internet only" proposition @born_again... unlike some others they are exceptionally strict that all sales and service queries have to be done online and the only telephone support is for claims.1
