Changes to RM Tracked in March with photo

So what this means is all non signature Tracked will require a photo of the delivery at the door. NOT safeplaced but delivered either at an open door or through the letterbox.
Unless the recipient has requested safeplace etc via 'inflight' (where the recipient selects delivery options from RMs text/email)
Signature items will have 4 options for delivery

I read that as suggesting unless it either goes through the letterbox or recipient is in then no, it won’t be left.

I assume that the clothing shops see a lot of reports of thefts hence them signing up to this scheme. One of my DSs had a uni job working for a high end outlet on their mail order side , the reports that packages of clothing were stolen was constant - some people claimed losses over and over again and were suspected of getting free clothing. This way unless someone physically accepts the parcel or it is left inside via a letter box they won’t get their delivery- and loss claims should be non existent.

That is the specification unless the recipient has given a safeplace (with acceptance of terms if the item is stolen) via text/email delivery preference.
Assuming the sender has input mobile/email into the Tracked label software

They probably aren't supposed to leave any parcels unattended anyway, although of course a lot of people will have informal agreements.

I guess the big companies will be willing to use a service that allows a safe place to be stated for convenience but doesn't allow parcels to left here and there at the customer's unofficial request.

There is and has always been a 'safe place' option with RMT24.  Hopefully that won't change.

Yes safeplace remains. However with photo that safeplace needs to  be nominted on the PDA by the recipient via a response to the sms/email from RM.
Not what many assume (posties/customers) that the postie simply bungs it somewhere and its a 'safeplace'

I suppose I have one of these informal agreements. Although the postman doesn't know it, I wouldn't dream of doing anything if something disappeared as I accept that it would be my responsibility. In the several years this "system" has been operating, convenient to both of us; ie I don't have to struggle to the door, they don't have to wait - I have lost one thing and without going into detail I think it was the person who delivered it, took it.  I just have the satisfaction of knowing they would have been disappointed - it was a small piece of fabric for patchwork! Serves them right.
(I didn't tell the seller it hadn't arrived, either).

Items posted through the letter box or passed to someone inside the property will be evidenced by photographic evidence. No signature will be required to confirm delivery.

That doesn't change the fact that people shouldn't need to sign up to a scheme to get the service they paid for.

Pretty much all restrictions have already gone in England and the legislation underpinning this madness will be removed within 2 weeks. Why are we still enabling this daft mentality?

On first thoughts a photo seems better than a signature though doesn’t it? After all if anyone can actually sign those pad things with anything other than a wavy black line then they do better than me, then there is the issue of ‘your parcel was signed for’ but no one knows who by. That might be ok if you live alone but some people flat share or live in houses of multiple occupation.

A photo showing item safely going through letter box, or handed to a resident in the house just has to be better . These clothes companies, as I said above, allegedly  lose an awful lot of parcels and suspect a lot of it is fraud- if this helps to stop that then it is a good thing.
