New Three Piece Suite Nightmare

Robocop35 said:Thanks for your comments. My mother just hates it and refuses to keep it as she does not like the fact it was installed in sections and therefore does not look so good and is slightly out of sync with the three piece sofa, two piece sofa and one armchair.
She spoke to Parker Knoll and they were not interested at all and said to contact the retailer who were not interested.
I said to her, that she should give it time, in case it gets more comfortable etc, but she is not accepting that argument. They don't like the fact that the armchair is heavy, and that its very difficult to move. They are in their late 70's.
She is going to have another sofa made, which will cost a further £7,000 plus and probably the same thing will happen again!
I cant do any more to help them!1 -
My father has no say in anything as my mother likes to control everything and everyone. She wont listen to me or my brother.
I could never afford to spend that much on a sofa and would never want too. I cant get on to the housing ladder, so I don't think I will ever encounter a sofa problem.
They sat on the one in the showroom etc, and went there many times. Their only argument was that they did not know it came in several sections which they weren't told and did not realize it was heavy!
She wants me to put them on gumtree for a few hundred quid, which is crazy to waste that amount of money, and will then spend another £8,000 on a new one and will then not like that one!
I am not saying another word on the subject as she knows everything and does not listen to me, so she can get on with it.0 -

I cant do any more to help them!Previously we’ve bought from high street sofa shops, they bring the things in and just click them together and we rarely had a sofa that lasted more than a few years. However my Parker Knoll was finished on the premises. They did a trial run before we paid to see if they could get the shop floor model in, (and it took some doing as this suite is more solidly built that the high street ones). Our 3 seater then came in 2 halves, it was firmly attached once it arrived, properly joined and looks as though it is a solid sofa, whereas the cheaper ones always had the feel they were flimsier at the join.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If they did not make sofa's in section they would never get them into a lot of houses especially the new builds or flats.
Heavy is good means it's made to last with good quality wood & not just chipboard.Life in the slow lane2 -
So your mum would be happy to spend £14k (less a couple of hundred resale) to have a sofa in one piece and that isn't too heavy?
And you can't get on the housing ladder?

Thanks for your comments. I have tried moving the sofa this morning with my body weight pushing it and it is solid as a rock and does not move an inch!
The boss wants to get rid of the sofa even if she takes it to the local refuse tip, its going! She wants to then waste more money on a sofa which she will complain about!
The sofa is so heavy because all the metalwork to make the thing recline up and down which they will never use, so I don't know why they did not buy just a replacement normal sofa!
There is no way I can get on the housing ladder like millions of others as I don't have the deposit. Being on the South Coast makes it impossible with the prices around here are crazy. The only place where I would have a more of a chance would be to move up north, but of course that does not fit in with my mothers remit, as she wants to control everyone's lives and would still need a lot of money! She says the north is grim, with awful people etc which is crap.1 -
Seriously, there are bigger problems here than just a sofa.10
