  • Fab news, congratulations.  I was going to suggest whether you lived near the border of another county and could pop across and use a Registry Office in another area; no need to now.
    I used to work with a lady who was married in Scotland when she was 17 and they grabbed a couple of witnesses off the street.  They were still married 35 years later and had attempted to find the witnesses but couldn't.

    Friends of ours married recently in England while away from our locale, and had arranged for witnesses who they knew well for the wedding. On the day both were unavailable, they ended up using the hotel receptionist and a woman on her way to do her shopping. All went well.
