YORKSLASS I heard that comment from the Tesco boss telling us that the worst is yet to come! With that in mind I got round to ringing Virgin about yet another price increase next month, to see what changes I could make to get it down in price. I expected a load of hassle but was pleasantly surprised to find myself speaking to a lovely young chap who agreed I was paying far too much, bearing in mind I don't watch much tv anyway! By tweeks to my phone package and reducing the number of channels I have he managed to get my payment down by a whole £40 a month! Wow I was more than pleased with that saving!
I have been a busy bee for a change this morning so now it's feet up and I'll flick between the Olympics and the programmes I recorded last night. I watched DOI and Good Karma Hospital, so that leaves Call the Midwife and Pottery Throw Down to catch up on. I watch more tv on a Sunday night than the rest of the week altogether!!
Enjoy the rest of the day folks if you can xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
TA: Wow, that's a good saving - well done you!
Yes, Sunday night's TV is probably the best night at the moment. We only have Freeview so our choice is somewhat limited - you would think with the number of channels available it wouldn't be so difficult but not so. Some of them we don't even watch (shopping channels, those aimed at the younger generation etc). And don't get me started on the number of repeats! I like things such as Morse, Endeavour, Frost, New Tricks, Foyle's War etc but when you've watched them umpteen times, well, it gets monotonous. Even the films are repeats! When I renewed our phone/broadband package a couple of weeks ago I was thinking about taking out a bundle with extra TV channels but have decided in the current economic climate it's a no-no right now. DH isn't that bothered about TV (usually falls asleep unless it's something really gripping) and I can always bury my head in a book/knit/cross stitch whilst listening to the radio.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.12 -

Hello, late one from me,
Went shopping 🛍 with a friend this morning and then for a coffee ☕
Then went for a walk in the rain🌧, got cold and wet but apparently it's good for me😂😂.
Done a couple of loads of washing and now have my feet up watching tv
Happy Birthday Jackie O🎂

JackieO - Happy Birthday.
I managed to miss the heavy rain when I went to and from Church yesterday.
Decided to have a day indoors today - only my second in 18 days. Done some mugs filled with chocolates - will take them along to my hairdressers tomorrow to raise funds for SA. Please excuse my messy craft table.
Easy dinner tonight chicken goujons and salad in wraps.

Hi everyone,
I have had a fantastic day and been so spoilt with so many lovely messages ,texts and phone calls, my phone kept 'pinging' all day.
Tonight I had a superb meal made by my lovely son-in-law Simon, of Steak Diane, chips, garlic mushrooms and peas, it was melt in the mouth stuff followed by another birthday cake, this time in white chocolate with butter cream icing, very yummy .
I had so many gifts and flowers, chocolates and DD got me some super jeans and a lovely top plus another pair of black joggers in a very soft material.
Even her boss at work sent home a card for her Mumma with a box of chocolates bless him,he is is Portugese, and thinks the world of my DD and I've known him for years. A lovely kind hearted family man, who misses his own Mumma I think.
Mikey bought me an interlocking cup, saucer and teapot set ,really pretty, and so thoughtful as it has a daisy parttern around it. My late big brother whom I sadly lost 5 years ago was called David, and since I was a tiny girl I called him Daisy, and Mikey remembered, and as its Daisy's birthday this Saturday, he knows he is always in my thoughts.
For a 17 year old young man he is a very kind, thoughtful caring young man, bless him.
I had some super cards, and the other two boys phoned and messaged and I will see Ben next week when he is home for a few days .Henry I will have to wait for until he is home at Easter, but he keeps in touch every couple of days .
My lovely 'Gentle Jack' who is a lovely lad, as well bought me a surprise gift. About 12 years ago I was at Uni studying for my degree, and just before the last year started our course was cut by a funding crisis at the University of Kent, so two years hard work went down the drain.
I have always regretted never being able to finish it, and probably why I've always been on the boys case to do well and study hard to get their degrees.
This has always made Jack sad, as he knows how much I loved my course and how hard I had worked .
My course tutor sadly died just after first lockdown of pancreatic cancer, and I know she too was cross about the course being cancelled as being an ...older student she knew going back to education was at times a battle to get the funding in place.
When Jack went to Uni three and a half years ago he said 'Oh Nanny I wish you could come as well I know you would love it' ,but I still had Mikey to keep an eye on while their parents worked. With five children, work was a necessity for them both.
Anyway tonight he gave me two parcels with a big grin on his face, "I wanted to do this ages ago" he said "but the past two years have been hard for us all" with lockdowns etc .
Well I opened them up, and it one was a mortar board, and it the other a certificate printed and framed, awarded to me with a first class honours degree in the University of Life, and he said "Without you Nanny, I might never have had the courage to go and get my degree, the boys and I owe you so much ,you have been there all the time with us helping us along and encouraging us to keep going .
I was speechless, and I must admit a bit overcome, I am so lucky to have those smashing lads around me and what a lovely gesture on their part to remember their old Nan so well. I really am the richest lady in the kingdom tonight.
So I may not have been able to finish my degree but to the boys I am their inspiration to keep going which is even better.
Now I am off 'up the hill to Bedfordshire' as my old Mum would have said, to think about all the lovely things that have happened to me over the past few days.
So Night ,Night God Bless all here and thanks again everyone I am so blessed with lovely friends and relations around me
