Using Klarna to build up credit history?

My credit history is generally good but I need to have some more recent entries in my file. I find the idea of using my existing credit card for everyday purchases and paying it back quite fiddly and annoying. A home appliance has recently stopped working, so I'm considering buying a new one (approx. £300) using Klarna 3 payment offer. I could buy it outright, but I was thinking that this could be a good time to get more credit history? I am thinking of applying for a mortgage later this year, by which time the debt will have been cleared. Would this help or hinder credit history?

Klarna aren’t on any of my files….I’ve used only a few times. So don’t think that this will help.

In what way is it fiddly and annoying?  Use the card, make a payment once a month - or, even better, set up a direct debit for the full amount.  I can't see how anything could be less fiddly than that.  Used correctly (i.e. always paid in full every month), a credit card is probably the simplest way there is to build up a solid history.  And it costs nothing.

    Thanks!
Re credit card - it's not the paying back, but actually using it that I have troubles with. I like using my phone to pay for things and for some reason the card and the app often come up with all sorts of errors (everything is up to date and I don't have the same issues with my other cards). Oh well, I guess people behind me in Tesco will just have to wait a bit longer for me to clear out! :D

So your objections seem to amount to:
    1) it's too much of a hassle setting up a DD to pay off the full monthly card balance.
    2) it's too much of a hassle getting the card out instead of your phone to make the payments.
If getting a mortgage later this year is your goal, is the above really too much to ask? You are going to have to do a whole lot more paperwork and admin than that to support a mortgage application.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Holding your phone up against the scanner takes no longer than holding a contactless card up against one, why would it take longer?

It is, it sometimes works, sometimes doesn't... I'll contact my card company to see if it can be fixed.
