Combine utility and WC or keep separate?!

That's a plus in my book - in through the back door, and straight into the (separate) loo when I'm 'caught short' gardening. Don't have children, but I imagine that not having the grubby little urchins trailing through the house would be a bonus, too.theonlywayisup said:My pet hate in house design is a cloakroom accessed from the utility. I do not want people over for dinner to have to walk past my dirty washing to use the loo. There are parts of a house that only the residents should access and the utility is one of those. Certainly do not make the space one large loo with washing machine in, keep it separate and if funds allow move it out of the utility area.
Our utility is fitted with the same cupboards/work surface/ flooring as the kitchen, and it's easy enough not to have laundry on display when we have visitors.0 -
Very easy to decant. When they are empty give them a good wash in warm soapy water. Then on your menu go to the twindos settings.Doozergirl said:
Thanks! That's timely, I just bought washing tabs yesterday...theonlywayisup said:

I don't like it either, but things can be disguised and made entirely discreet. My own laundry area is in the kitchen and it's the messiest bit, but it's behind doors!theonlywayisup said:My pet hate in house design is a cloakroom accessed from the utility. Looks nice and is way more preferable than walking through that area to go to the loo (especially if you don't live there).
On a side note. Ditch the twindos and put your own washing detergent/softener in the containers. It is very easy to change the menu and have it dispense something better (and cheaper)!
What would you recommend and how easy is it to decant?
This gives you an idea

You should first fill the containers with clean water and run the cleaning cycle on both dispenser sides. After that, you set the dispenser to dispense what you want - there are several options - and your choice of detergent/softener will tell you the optimum amount to dispense, set that and hey presto, no more Miele washing detergent!
When you do your washing cycle, hit the twindos button as normal and it will ask if you want one or both 'agents' dispensed.
I use Ecover in ours as we are on a septic tank but you can use whatever your preferred brand is.1 -
I have a backdoor entry to our loo, but it is still nowhere near the utility. My back door entrance has a rear hallway and the loo is off that, the utility off it from another side. Still no need to go through the utility. My pet hate is the 'going through the utility to the loo', not the entering the loo from the back hallway.Silvertabby said:
