using a really great app- snoreLab (it monitors your snoring and gives you results)  but it's asking for £12 a year to upgrade.  I've never paid for apps as i was worried about getting scammed out of money.  Do many people pay to upgrade?

If people value the extra functionality (and will use it) that the app provides then yes they will do.

Some people just decide to pay to support the creators as the royalties from Google Play used to be a 70:30 split - 70% to the creator, 30% to Google.  This has now changed, to a 85:15 split.
