Advice for CCJ - Not in country when served

  • Update on this case - I have received my date for a hearing which will take place in February. It is a remote hearing that will take place via BTMeetme.

I will be working out of the country at the time, but have no problem with taking the call, I was wondering if anyone had experience with taking these calls whilst outside the country? Will I encounter any problems because of this?

I have tried speaking to the court and the helpline provided on the letter but I can not seem to get a definitive answer.

Just wondering if anyone else on here has experienced taking this call via BTMeetme whilst outside the country.

Depending on where you are, there will be a local number to dial, then you type in the conference number/PIN
  • Hey guys,

I have my hearing for this case next week on Friday 17th, it will be a phonecall via BTMeetMe any tips on how to prepare?

My witness statement was sent in March, so almost a year ago now. I have read over various times to familiarise myself again.

The call will apparently last around 30mins, does anyone know what I should expect?

If it's only 30 minutes does the court letter say it is just a Directions Hearing?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Which witness statement did you send? The one that is advised by the experts on this forum or the one which, if you are familiar with the TV Comedy, "The Big Bang Theory" sounded like it had been written by Dr Sheldon Cooper?

There is no mention of Directions hearing in the letter, the letter states it is a Notice of Hearing of Application.

Any ideas what this will actually be?

Oh it's a CCJ Set aside application hearing.  Your application!  Read other set aside threads to prepare.

Ahh that's what I was thinking! Thank you for confirming. I'll make sure to do so, I have already been following a few threads from around the time I first posted here and seen some good results, so fingers crossed for the same thing.
  • Does anyone know if it is normal for BT MeetMe court hearings to be delayed?

I was instructed to expect a call at 12:30pm - 17th February. It is now 12:40 and I have not received any call. I'm a little bit concerned and the letter I received does not offer any advice other than calling a helpline for technical difficulties, which of course I will do once I am sure that I am not going to receive the call from the county court.

Court hearings are always delayed!  Sometimes two hours later.

DO NOT MAKE YOURSELF UNCONTACTABLE.  DO NOT MAKE CALLS ON THAT PHONE.
