I may have missed this answer but as of 1st April did the customers recieving this contradicting contract information move to the new Priced Capped variable tariff or are they still protected til end of June?

They are still on the variable tariff they were always on and the price has increased in line with the change in cap.
The tariff will end on the stated date in June at which point they will be moved to the standard variable tariff which has the same prices.

Is there a way of getting through to the British call centre rather than the South African one? The SA guys don't seem to action anything and the calls keep dropping out and I am not called back...

Received an email from BG this morning, informing me of my new tariff from 1st April.
Says that the end date of this "Welcome to BG" tariff is 31st July with the further info that they will be in touch with my options before that date ,but I might like to look at the certainty of a fix !!
NOWHERE does it say that if I do nothing ,I'll be moved over on to the "standard" BG variable tariff (also at the cap) - the email is clearly designed to panic some less well informed customers that there will be another price rise coming from 1st August so driving them to consider fixing.
Disingenuous .at best - downright dishonest at worst

Oh dear British Gas are up to their old tricks - trying to cause mayhem again.  I received the same email, informing me that the "Welcome to British Gas tariff" ends on 31 July 2022.  Which is a joke, considering it is absolutely the same as the variable tariff which we are on until the next increase in the price cap in the autumn. So this latest email is just scare mongering in the hope we sign up for their "special fixed tariffs".
I have seen two fixed tariffs on my BG account, fixed until end April 2023, they are a lot higher than the variable tariff.  But I am not tempted yet!  As the warmer weather comes I will see what happens the coming months.

I went from People's Energy to British Gas under the SoLR scheme.  I am currently disputing the Price Guaranteed until 30th June aspect.  I got nowhere with BG - they wanted to rely on it being a Variable rate, which it did state, but couldn't offer any credible explanation as to the meaning or purpose of the price guarantee.  They tried to claim that it was guaranteed not to go above the Ofgem Cap until 30th June, which ignores the fact that it can't go above it after that date.

After some arm twisting they issued a deadlock letter and the matter is currently with the Ombudsman.  A decision was due last week but they seem to be running a little late.  I will report back on the outcome

A brief update before I head off for the weekend.  The Ombudsman has upheld the complaint against BG and has proposed a remedy of the 'Price Guarantee' remaining in place until 30th June, i.e. the contract will remain at the previous Ofgem Cap levels of around 20p per kWh / 24p per day until the end of June.

In order to do that they would presumably have to either create a tariff with those rates that expires at the end of June or calculate the difference based on actual usage after June. Be interesting to know what they do.

I expect they will simply counter propose a good will gesture of £x.

... or they will appeal the decision...
I'd be very surprised if they simply accept the decision as it stands as it potentially opens the floodgates... ... and the 'Together Energy' customers had a 2023 date on their 'mistake' guarantee...

I have accepted the decision from my side and will wait and see if BG accept or appeal.  I will post any updates.

Sad state of affairs imo where customers were hunting the best deals with the least stable customers and then when one of the big six take them on with some poor wording they take them to the ombudsman. Despite the fact all the details from Ofgem about the SOLR informed them they would be put on the standard variable rate.

Honestly it looks and feels dirty to me.

    Shame
