Not the fault of the call centre staff, wherever they're based - entirely the fault of EDF for being such a totally !!!!!! company that it can't effectively manage and empower its staff.

Even the Executive Team utterly fail to take effective action.  This is a company to add to your lists of 'never ever again'.
Well we all know your feelings about EDF because they didn’t prioritise you for your refund above all other ex UP customers however reading other threads about SoLR companies, Octopus, Eon, BG, I don’t think they’re any different to anyone else.
Nothing remotely to do with prioritisation. All to do with lying to the Ombudsman, failing to respond properly to complaints from ALL customers, several months delay in repaying most customers, restricting the number of cases per week that they’ll take from Utility Point, poor customer service all round and failing to employ enough staff to do the job they’re paid to do by Ofgem.

You might like to act as their apologist - others of us don’t see it that way. We just see a large French multinational ripping off its customers.
  • There's a difference between being an apologist for a company, and stepping in when some clearly either have the wrong idea about what to expect, or are so buried under their own sense of entitlement around how they "expect" to be treated that they forget that they are simply one customer amongst many, who may in fact have made their own situation worse...

I’d have thought that by now you’d have managed to work out from posts here and elsewhere that this isn’t remotely about one customer - it’s the way EDF have handled many thousands of customers.

How funny - it's as though you thought my post was aimed at you, perhaps?! Interesting that you picked that out of a post that was specifically worded to not refer to ANY poster in particular...

Not sure what point you're trying to make there, but your reference was to 'one customer'. As was mine.

I'm aiming at nobody but EDF.

Am I the only person having problems with EDF?.I’ve called then many times but they don’t seem to want to give me my final bill and credit.Last I was told by the end of January  should get my final bill. Considering utility point went under last September seems a long wait, @Ofgem needs to sort these companies out .was expecting a EDF representative to call me today but no one phoned shocking customer service.Has anyone got their accounts credited by EDF yet ?.
    Hi smileguy,
Have you tried logging in to portal.utilitypoint.co.uk/Account/Login to see if there is a final statement there yet?

Thank you for this info, not sure why I wasn't informed about this website, being a new customer to Utility Point for less than a month before it went into administration. I have been chatting with EDF and I may as well have been talking to my budgie. Surely they could have pointed me there.

One thing I have said to people who tell me they're going to change energy suppliers is do a final reading as close to midnight on the last day you are with the current supplier. When I left OFTM my reading was done at 11.55pm,  when I left Bulb the reading was done at 11.40 pm. The readings won't be more than 1 kWh out on electric or 1 unit for gas, 11.3 kWh, in total less than a pound.
With smart meters the figure you give for electric is the kWh usage but gas takes a little working out and is to multiply the usage since the last reading by 1.02264*40.1 then divide by 3.6, I use 40.1 as this will mean the kWh total is normally more than the final reading will be but not that much that it would cause a concern.
Someone please tell me what money is

Just to avoid any misunderstandings for anyone reading this, do not give the kWh figure you calculate to the supplier, just use it for your own purposes.
Can also simplify that calculation to just multiply the units used for gas (m3 for smart meters) by 11.4 in this case.
That will overstate the kWh a bit though as mentioned above, 11.2 is generally closer but it varies as the calorific value varies from period to period.
