You definitely need to read the account T&Cs, if you're using the Money Facts/other websites for research, as I've just found the funding windows differ.

2 yr fix with Recognise Bank = 14 days.

Same account listed on MF = 30 days.

I've just opened a 3 year fix direct with Recognise and the funding window for that is 30 days

Am I looking at the wrong thing (genuine question)? Or has it just changed to 14 days?

I opened a 3-yr with them yesterday and the email stated 30 days...
Don't forget that you have 30 days to fund your account from today and can make as many deposits as you'd like during this time. The sooner you make your deposit, the quicker you can enjoy our great interest rates! If you have opened a Notice Account with us, you can make deposits regularly into your Recognise Savings Account, even after the 30 days have ended.
... and the Moneyfacts page still says 30 - so perhaps it has changed to 14 days overnight.

This is an issue that I've encountered several times - Money Facts, the product web site,  company emails and the account T&C often differ in such detail.  My own policy is that the T&Cs will be the most binding (I.e the document they'll hold me to), so I take this as the one I most rely on - they ask you to accept it as part of the sign up process, so for me, that makes it contractual.
Gatehouse Bank who use same Newcastle based system as Recognise Bank for a long time product page said 14 days to fund, email said 30 days which was correct.
  • while this is fresh in my mind, worth mentioning that Recognise use Clearbank for deposits and they arrived instantly into the account - I got an email confirmation for each deposit, but was impressed at the speed.

My plan was to open one, while waiting on funds maturing, but that will be after the 14 day funding window.

I still might open it, and see what happens. If it gets closed, then ah well, I've not lost anything. But that's a job for tomorrow.
  • After opening the 3 year fixed rate bond with RecogniseI have had an email from them stating 30 days to fund - copied below:

Step 1 - Making your deposit

It's simple to transfer money into your Recognise Savings Account. You will need to make an electronic payment from the bank, building society or online account that you selected as your Nominated Bank Account* when opening your Recognise Savings Account.

Don't forget that you have 30 days to fund your account from today and can make as many deposits as you'd like during this time.
