@TheBanker
”I confirm that, having allowed First Direct sight of my passport last week, they have not yet taken control of my life or thoughts”.
As a matter of interest, can I ask what account you were opening with First Direct that they requested a passport photo? Was it a current account as they don’t seem to have worthwhile savings accounts on offer? I am surprised that a banker hasn’t already got an account with them as we know they have been giving out money for their current accounts for years.
That aside, you gave them “sight” of your passport? How did you do that? Do you mean you gave them a copy of your passport to keep on file? Being as it was only a week ago that you gave them this information, I wouldn’t expect them to have “taken control of your life or thoughts” ….YET.0 -
They did move early with the last rises too with a 4.65% AER rate, probably to gain some sort of early mover's advantage and secure some of the "waiting" funds quickly with their 7-day deposit window / no cooling off period... only for better rates to emerge not long after whilst they remained on 4.65% AER...t1redmonkey said:Looks like Atom have joined the 5% club; offering 1/2/3/5 year bonds at 5% all with an option of monthly interest as well.
Hopefully recent history repeats itself over the coming days... I'd say if someone really wants to swoop in, come in now with 5.5%1 -
The market is so competitive currently you can get a good rate with various institutions so no need to jump through hoops if one savings provider asks for onerous checks just try another that doesn’t fortunately at the moment the saver has some power!4

Is there anything quirky about this sort of deal? Just wondered why the Money Savings top rate section on the website doesn't list it?Millyonare said:Raisin app...
Investec = 5.15% fixed for 2 years.
Is it a pay account or something like that? Has the site not noticed it / caught up yet? Or something else?0 -
@VNX agree totally and that is my policy.2

It's working fine and normal for me.
It may be that the MSE website is struggling or pausing to keep pace with the flood of new savings deals this week. The top rate on the list seems to be changing every hour or two, at the moment.1 -

Is there a reason why HL Active Savings is not showing in the best rates table? They are offering 5.15% on 2 year term and 5.18% on a 3 year term, so the best available at the moment. Is it something to do with HL?0

Was asking similar myself.dharm999 said:Is there a reason why HL Active Savings is not showing in the best rates table? They are offering 5.15% on 2 year term and 5.18% on a 3 year term, so the best available at the moment. Is it something to do with HL?
The suggestion of the Money savings site not keeping up with the quick fire changes was mooted. But I wonder if the above examples especially come with a charge, and thus aren't included?0 -
There has been no separate charge, either via HL or Raisin, in the past (indeed, Raisin used to give a £10 joining bonus - not sure if that still exists), and I can't see any mention of one now. I think it is just changes coming too quickly - and the MSE site is likely busy this morning with updates about fuel charges.auser99 said:
