For those of us who live rurally, who have no choice but to use oil and therefore cannot take advantage of dual fuel tariffs, what help can we get with the extraordinary rise in oil costs

What are you currently paying for oil? From April, mains gas will be capped at 7p/kWh. The equivalent price for oil would be around 70p/litre, or 49p/litre for LPG.Apparently you can buy oil for 50p/litre and LPG for 39p/litre, both of which seem cheap by comparison.N. Oil prices in my area (North Yorkshire/West Yorkshire border) have increased recently. I ordered 1500 litres on the 10th Jan at £0.547 per litre. Best quote today from the four or five suppliers I use is £0.58. Both prices plus the 5% VAT.
If I look at the 4 year graph on the Boilerjuice website, pricing was pretty much flat at £0.50 through all of 2018 and 2019. In Spring 2020 it dropped significantly to £0.20, then rose steadily to £0.44 by August last year.
Granted, it has since jumped up to around the £0.60 mark, but I suspect it will fall again in the Spring as US demand for oil drops. But even at £0.60, that only represents a 20% increase on 2018/2019 prices. The same can't be said for electricity and gas!

We are in the same position. Oil and electricity. We were with blue planet but they went bust, now moved to shell. I'm expecting about £40 per month rise from what we were paying. Quite glad in a way that we are on oil, as oh is disabled and we have our heating on a lot!0

Plus those on gas pay approx £100 pa for the daily service charge regardless of how much gas they use.Fill up your tank now!1

That KEROSENE figure quote from me was over a month ago...
Today it's about 65p a litre + vat.

New plastic oil tank at well in excess of £1,000 every ten years or so is our equivalent of a standing charge so don't use that one in the comparison sums, either!1 -
what help can we get with the extraordinary rise in oil costsWhat rise are you referring to? I filled up lat week at 61p. That is 1p more than it was 3 years ago.
