It's more complicated, sadly. See this post for why.arjar said:Thank you QrizB for your work on this. Does anyone know whether equivalent info. on regional rates is available anywhere for economy seven users?

That's really helpful - thanks again. So now I know the electricity standing charge but have to wait for individual suppliers to show their day and night rates for E7 - or make some assumptions in the meantime. I suppose there is some marginal good news here in that it should be possible to compare different suppliers total charge for my actual use of day/night units, so introducing an element of competition related to their choice of ratio.1

Yes, the current cap has resulted in quite a wide spread of rates - some suit high night-rate users better, others suit high day-rate users.arjar said:... it should be possible to compare different suppliers total charge for my actual use of day/night units, so introducing an element of competition related to their choice of ratio.

Correct not many people use 3500 units per year of electrical I use about 7000/8000 per year.What_time_is_it said:ProDave said:What_time_is_it said:An increase from 4p kwh to 7p kwh for gas would be a 75% increase.
With electricity going from 20p kwh to 28p kwh would be a 45% increase.
I'm struggling to square this with the headline 54% increase overall.
An average dual fuel user using perhaps more gas then electricity would see a 54% increase between the 2.
Yes, but that is very misleading. If this is the case then it should also be reported clearly that if you used proportionately more gas than electricity then your bills will increase a lot more.
What really gets my goat is that the government announce these things as if they are straightforward facts - £700 more on your bill, offset by £350 back - and it gets parrotted around as if that it the whole story. The reality for many people is that their bills will go up by A LOT more than this. And that's not even taking into account those who are still on fixed rates.0
