As I refuse to pay by DD because of the number of errors that have been made in my council tax the Council seems to be making it awkward to claim. All I want is a refund sent to the account that I've paid my council tax from for the past 30 odd years!0

Just had a new issue. If there are 2 names on your CT account & it's not paid by D/D can either named person claim the £150? Common sense says yes, but commonsense doesn't always reach local gov finance...0

Personally I would go off the first mentioned on the bill as being the least likely to go wrong. But that would only be a guess but would seem logical!

Either can apply - the council will r4egister the form so that the other person can not apply. each council has to verify the person and the bank account and possibly date of birth to eliminate risk of fraudulent applications. To be honest its a nightmare that most authorities would rather have not had foisted upon them

You will need to apply and confirm bank details if not a current DD payer. For current dd payers councils are making payment after first DD has been collected to ensure bank account details are still valid. Hope that helps
